I wonder what the average annual mileage is for an E9x M3? I'm guessing around 7500, given all the low mileage examples being purchased by members here...

no moors!

I'm guessing around 8000 miles per year average for the average owner of the average civic M3.

Moop. The average is tilted by two distinct groups of cars-- the Garage Queens are only getting 2k-to-3k miles per year while the M3s owned by folks with no other DD-type cars are running up 10-15k miles per year. It seems a lot of cars purchased new get babied for a while, then as the price of used models drops they often become daily drivers for guys who appreciate a higher-end car that is now selling for less than a new Chevy Volt.

Bought it with ~ 6,300 on the clock in October 2014 when I bought her. While it is not a garage queen by any stretch, I do try to limit my time in the car to when the weather is nice enough to have the top down.

Having a performance car and not driving it to keep the miles low is like having a super model girlfriend and not touching her so that she is nice-n-fresh for the next guy. These cars need to be driven. An automobile is a lousy investment comparatively speaking. The only return you are going to get out of your investment in an automobile is the sheer joy of driving it. Just sayin'...

First he said that I'd get 600 hp by pressing my M button (which I didn't, I only got 595) now he says I have to replace my rod bearings after only 10,000 miles

wait wait wait hold the bus for one moment...Is there a standard here, how often do you touch your super model g/f? because I need to make sure I'm touching mine enough for my return on investment

Seems like it has been proven that supermodels have considerably higher maintenance costs than ///M cars. I suggest keeping the mileage low on both and avoid taking an excessive trade-in hit while still making the most of their high performance attributes when the time is right.

based on my experience, most super models looks high performance but really most simply the appearance and tinsel of fake high performance, much like a Jaguar, Aston, or the F80 ....

nevertheless, an owner should still ride it hard to make a good return on investment, as there is a point on the "efficient frontier" so to speak of maximizing return and resale.

Nice charting! One could decide to throw costs out the window and trade in an Efficient Frontier for a Wild Frontier. Carrying three supermodels in an M3 is technically legal-- and while the car is slower the living is faster.

Yes, each supermodel passenger adds 115 pounds of weight to your M3. Or worse yet, 150 pounds each if they bring their handbags with them...
