Thumbs up My dad has joined the dark side...

...sorta. Finally switched from owning Japanese cars to German ones. I stopped over at my parents' house to see his new car today, a 2016 Audi S3:

For those wondering, it has the Tech Package, Bang & Olufsen sound, Performance Package, LED Lighting Package, and Sport Seats (quilted leather). The Sepang Blue paint is just awesome in person -- pictures don't do it justice.

He let me take it for a spin and it is definitely a fun little car. The turbo pulls like crazy and it's easy to squirt it around corners and through traffic. I'm impressed.

Yeah, the RS3 is going to be a monster. The S3 is already underrated from the factory (it's closer to 320hp), so the RS3 is probably 400. Insane.

I LOVE the S3. We picked one up for my wife this past spring and the car is an absolute blast to drive. Light and agile. Great steering feel and the best exhaust sound I have ever heard from a 4 cylinder engine.

The proportions and body style of the car are also just right. It looks very tight and muscular. The interior is clean and sporty and has a beautiful thick flat-bottom steering wheel.

Our car also came with red contrast stitching on everything that was a ZERO cost option !!!

Interesting. It is a nice color, close to the color of my Golf R. Curious, did he give any thought to a Golf R, or just a sedan guy, or just wanted an Audi? I probably would have given more thought to an S3, but having two sedans didn't make that much sense to me. If they had an S3 in a hatchback, I might have went that direction. I have to say having a somewhat similar combo, it really makes a nice contrast in terms of personalities.

Also, as far as the RS3 coming to America, in light of VW group's global issues related to emissions, I wouldn't hold my breath on seeing it anytime soon. There are already rumors that Golf R production for 2016 is being put on hold until 2017, either because they need to focus on higher volume more profitable models, or maybe higher need to sell higher MPG models if they lose TDI sales, in order to make their CAFE numbers. S3s might not be impacted, but I wouldn't be shocked if the US RS3 is.

Reading the title I was expecting a pic of a Camaro or a Vette or a Mistang. There is no dark side on Audis. He will survive!!! Last week I was seeing an A4 S4. Nice car. The guy didn't want to give me any break so off we go.

He doesn't like hatchbacks. I tried to sell him on the Golf R (cheaper, more room, same performance) but he wanted the Audi more.

My only gripe is that the trunk is quite small at just 10 cubic feet.

He was actually very close to buying a Mustang GT with the Performance Pack but admitted that it is too conspicuous and he'd probably land himself in jail with that kind of performance.

Very nice! Love Sepang, it's a beautiful color. I wish it would have been available when I had my S4 but at the time it was an exclusive color.

Sprint Blue is a cool one too! I still like Nogaro the best. Wish I could've had that on my B6 S4.

love the s component of it (engine, tranny), but i still don't get the "A3" and "CLA" segment.
seen in person, sat in person, but it's like half a car, it just looks like an unfinished project. Car is tiny...it's like 2 series sedan...why make back seats and cover with leather all over and put 2 doors (at least 911 has "coupe" excuse...) when one can't sit there more than 5 minutes without vomiting...

It's actually pretty much the same size as a B5 series S4 (2000-2002). You can comfortably seat four adults of non-extreme body size, either by height or weight. Cars in general are getting too big IMO.

Agreed cars are too fucking big now a days. Funny how people keep saying this or that car is small when they have the same footprint of early gen cars. 2 series, cla, a3 etc. They are the size of early/mid 2000s vehicles.

I love small cars keep them coming!! Way better streetability being so tossable

Not sure how the rear space is in the S3, but I have a Golf R, the S3's hatchback brother, and I honestly think there's more rear seating room than my M3. I've had some larger adults that fit in the back no problem. The space in the hatch is small, though; I can load a ton more in the M3's trunk unless I fold the R's seat down, so it seems they compromised the space there for somewhat more interior room, but for the dimensions, it's pretty crazy.
