Really! Did i mention anything about driving skills, i just said how you can make a car go faster by stepping on the gas pedal and i was being sarcastic and kidding around along with you. Thanks for input though.

Can I put 300 to 400lbs in the C6 to make the cars weigh the same?
I can outrun C6s in my E36 on a road course. That's where it count's in my opinion.

He has more done cause with those current mods he cannot get into 11s especially on street tires. Maybe he also has a cam and tune, along with a few other things. |

Kudos to you, but given roughly equal driving skills with stock vehicles, there'll be E36 doors and headlight glass laying all over the track as the Vettes fly by. The latest M3 and C6 seem to be fairly closely matched, with a minor nod going to the C6 when equipped with the sports package. E36s need not apply. Bruce |

1. the C6 driver cannot drive at all and you can very well. 2. your E36 is highly modified. 3. the C6 blew is motor before you passed him. |

I used to have a C5 corvette.
needless to say it blew me away (at the time, also considering what i was driving then also) with its acceleration and torque. How will the new M3 stack up against the C5. Ive not driven the C6 and would like to know how the new M3 would compare to the C5. Ive driven the 335i and was impressed by its acceleration...but felt it still couldnt catch the C5. |

Spearfisher, I'm talking about BMW driver's schools. I've seen many driver schools and BMW CCA club racing events where the car that should be faster, is the car getting passed. It happens all the time. Last year in a 20 minutes session on the track I passed a Ferrari 348 twice and had caught him again for the potential third pass when the session was ended. So much of it is driver dependant. We're not talking pro drivers here, we're talking about amateurs out having fun and being sports car enthusiasts. I have lots of video of me passing "faster" cars, it I get time I'll splice together some shots, but it will be a few weeks.

I say the Z51 C6 is four or five seconds per minute faster around any given road course than your 240 HP machine, including the 'Ring, and the 'Ring numbers are right there to back me up on this. The base C6 is probably at least three seconds per minute faster. If this isn't blowing your doors off, then we'll just have to agree to disagree. Listen, I loved my own E36 M3 (a '95), including on track, but in the league we're discussing, you'd use it to go get parts. Bruce |

but remember it's not what the driver is capable of, it's what the car is capable of, drivers equal, we are comparing vehicles not people |

yup - and the Vette is NOT capable of hauling 4 people and thier luggage. and the M3 is. so, apples and oranges, and the orange is still just as fast and can make orange juice too, for four!

My point wasn't to discuss my driving abilities or perhaps lack there of. The point I was making is it doesn't matter if the C6 is faster (it should be, it weighs 400lbs less) if the driver can't extract that performance out of the car.
On the road or on the track, when it comes to cars of close or equal capabilities, it comes down to the faster driver that will make the difference. Bragging rights of which car the magazines say is faster doesn't mean anything if the driver of the car can't duplicate the results.

I'm sure a really good driver will extract more out of the E92 also. But the C6 is not as hard as you might think to drive, very easy to track and 1/4 mile. |

Great, just what we need, another badge whore. So are you saying that BMW's are always going to be faster, because it's a BMW? Are you kidding me, you know we're not talking about badges here right. So i guess you think that the M3 is faster or better than the Z06 as well, just because it's only a Chevy. Please read the title again and then reply. |
