Well, we know the Dinan stroker kit for the V10 engine is about $40,000. So, for the M3 V8 storker probably well above $30,000 for about 53 0bhp. A good SC kit with intercoolers etc... probably about $15,000 and +/- 550 bhp. A good turbo kit would probably be a least $30,000 IMO given that you would need to rework internals, lower compression pistons etc...., lots of piping, but could make well above 600 bhp!!

I know for a fact that Mosselman Turbosystems is completing and SC and also working on a turbo upgrade. There SC kit should be released sometime in November I suspect while the turbo system a bit later. Other tuners are also working on SC's etc.... and presume releases will start late this year for some and early next year. There will me many choices I am positive in terms of price, power, etc...

This car will be sick, Dinan will do a complete package and not just the engine so this car will be a great all arounder as well. This should be a nice comparision to the V10 e90 that Hartage completed a few years ago.

Nice comparison??? I think it will kill the Hartage e90 V10. Can´t wait for Dinian to come up with this.

If the stroker kit can really deiver 500+ hp and probably a significant amount more torque (since stroking and displacement increases torque) then this should be outstanding because, unlike the Hartage V10, it will not significantly add weight to the nose while still achieving power gains.
I am looking forward to the results. Hopefully they can can the price <$20K (still 1/3 the value of the car) and provide the nice warranty.

We would all love the stroker but for under 20k it will be forced induction that will be realistic, and make more power. I don't like the idea of boost either, but Dinan will want 35k probably and for that price I can live with boost. |

I generally agree with you. Problem is that we lose way too much power out of an NA engine at this altitude. If I lived in Cali, Florida, most of Europe or close to sea level I would NOT turn to FI.

I guess it comes down to how big of a market they want. If they charge north of $30k then you are looking at very very few folks willing to shell out half the value of their car again (and into GT3 territory) to gain 100 HP. If they can keep it closer to $20K then they may have 3x the number of folks willing to do it, and thus more profit overall. It all depends on how much it costs them and what volume they seek to make it worth their while.
Keep in mind also that the R&D for the V8 stroker kit should be minimal since it was already developed for the M5's V10 and they can use the same parts. I guess we will find out soon.

Just a quick question. Is the 600+hp V10 currently for the M5/6 an engine swap? If yes will you get to keep your old engine? What about the V10 for the M3? Is is going to be based on the engine in the M5/6?

Why ever would they want the core of the M3 V8 if you opt for a V10 TT. Don't think they would share ANY part. Does anyone on earth have any inking yet of how much that V10 TT may be and when it will be avaliable?

why not both?
I am salivating over the prospect of this Dinan V-10 M3. It will probably double the price of the car, I'm guessing about $150K? However, it should humiliate GT-R's, 997 Turbos, F430's, just about anything. One would think 0-60 would be available in the low 3 second range, with an 11 sec quarter mile. That's hauling ass.
If they can get 630 bhp out of the stroker, I wonder how much they could achieve by applying forced induction to that motor? 900? 1000? Can you say "225 mph M3"? Sweet Jesus!

God only knows how much more they could get through FI. This stroker set up is stessed so that you would have to change the entire design of the engine internals at least before you go serious FI.
