UPDATE: Engine failure
Hello all! 2 years and 6000 miles later, I've finally got an update on my engine from this thread if anyone still remembers:
Engine noise/knocking After a thorough teardown and analysis at SSR Performance, it’s been determined that the BE bearings were installed properly with no manufacturer defect and that possibly another unrelated scenario caused the main bearings to go out at cylinder 8. Ultimately the outcome was that the engine was saved, mains were upgraded to WPC coated bearings for future-proofing with new BE rod bearings reinstalled, any damaged parts were replaced, and preventive maintenance was performed while we were in there: valve cover gaskets, thermostat, oil pump chain & timing chain guide rails, oil level sensor, oil filter housing gasket, spark plugs, etc. She now runs better than ever and I have full confidence SSR Performance does great work and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. Zayn & Shah were amazing to work with throughout the whole process and I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. I truly appreciate everything they’ve done for me. I thank you all for your patience and I apologize for the huge delay in providing this update. The last 2 years in life were pretty wild & busy for me, had 3 other cars to deal with, work was nuts, and I’ve generally stayed off of all forums to balance my time. Not to mention browsing M3Post gets expensive! Since getting her back, I’ve changed my trunk struts, flushed brake & power steering fluids, replaced miscellaneous parts here and there, and currently run LiquiMoly 10W-60; I've changed the oil twice since then due to time and not miles. I’m currently waiting on the results of a Blackstone oil analysis and have other work to do in the near future. Anyway, it’s good to be back! Can’t wait to join the 100,000 mile club.

Thanks for the update Mike, and good to hear the engine was saved .
Re bearing photos, I don't suppose they've been automatically backed up in Google photos? (assuming you use an android phone). Obviously the rod bearings by no 8 mains would be trashed, but the others might be ok (although they only did 9k, would still be interesting to see).
