May 2008 Car & Driver: M3 vs. IS-F (spoiler warning)
Just got the magazine yesterday- sorry if this is a repost. The M3 was a Sedan, MT6, had EDC, and 19" wheels. The M3 won of course.
data: 0-60 mi/hr: 4.1 s 0-100 mi/hr: 9.8 s 0-150 mi/hr: 24.9 s 1/4 mi: 12.6 s @ 113 mi/hr 5-60 mi/hr: 5.4 s 30-50 mi/hr: 7.8 s 50-70 mi/hr: 6.2 s 70-0 mi/hr: 161 ft gov. lim. top speed: 161 mi/hr 328 ft skid pad acceleration: 0.95g lane change speed: 69.6 mi/hr curb mass: 3680 lb observed fuel economy: 16 mi/gal The car they tested was Melbourne Red on Fox Red (extended?) with Carbon Leather. I really though this combination looked hot in the pictures; very "M3" specific too. By the way, this test is separate from the M3 Sedan data that they released last month, I think. J.

4.1 0-60 is strong. I think that is the second or third confirmed time!!! I was hoping the 0-100 would be closer to 9.5 but oh well...

I do like to see the 0-100 and 0-150 times. Not that I drive that fast but sometimes it's more information than the 0-60
C&D M3 coupe did 9.8s and 24.3s SO the times are fairly close. Can't wait to see if the DCT is any quicker |

Okay, I will try to scan it this afternoon. I can't wait to see what the M DCT does. Screw the IS-F; it does well but only beats the M3 in the torque numbers (5-60, 30-50, 50-70, etc.).

I don't have a scanner to scan it, but after reading it - one comment that caught me off guard:

Did the sedan have a sunroof? If so that would account for part of the extra 130 lbs that this car weighed over the forum member who weighed his coupe at 3550.

are you saying they tested a Coupe with this same sedan, same day, same conditions? Quote:
nice - its a pretty close drag race with the M3 getting out in front and then the Lexus still trying to catch up by 155 mph. and the M3 is a full second faster around the track - nice - even with a screw up.

Or could it be with a driver, accounting for 130 lbs? With a sunroof I wouldn't think more than 40 plus the extra 25 lbs the sedan has over the coupe. Maybe options could account.

This is the first time I have seen an E9x Sedan weigh more than 50 lb over the E9x Coupe. I think there is a mistake. C&D had two other mistakes in this article. They claimed that the engine hit red line at 8,300/min and you could not buy EDC without the Technology Package.

Scans poste in the correct forum
I just scanned and posted the whole article. Actually, this should have gone in the "M3 vs. ..." section. I will link it there.
