Daytona in 2013. Glanced the rear view at 11:48 and took my eyes off the apex for a second. My first real Oh S*** moment. I've learned a lot since then...

Question to anyone: Where do you guys learn how to recover when the rear goes sideways? Would it just be events that have their skid pad in use? I'd love to be able to turn off DSC, but without experience of knowing how to save the car I don't think I'll ever be able to.

my m3 is my first rwd and I was pretty intimidated to take it to the track because for me its either DSC off or stay home....so what I did is I went by myself to the track, everything stock and turned off DSC....i was going super super slow letting everyone pass me and all I did that day was to know what it would feel like to lose the rear....so on turns on 3rd gear I was going 2nd and going little harder on throttle to make my car oversteer on purpose.....in the beginning it was a disaster, but after 7 8 laps I started to get hang of it and went harder and harder......now I know what to do in most situations, of course im not pro like kaiv or m3number86, but I dont feel scared anymore.....I actually love when my car oversteer everytime....thats how I like to drive it.

A few tips is watch some youtube videos and see what they do to fix and what they DIDNT do to fix LOL try....next, when you are counter steering, its pretty much natural....just keep your eyes WHERE YOU WANT TO GO.....your brain automatically will show you what to do. I see you are from Cali so if you ever wanna go to the track with us, me kaiv m3 number86 feel free and ill try to help.

Sounds good! I'll definitely try to get to a track day with you guys. I won't be able to get to the track until December at the earliest, but anything after that sounds good.

Also, which hosts allow you to let the rears go? I know some groups will black flag you if you do so excessively so I'd probably want to avoid them when I try your method of learning car control.

Thanks man!

If that is your goal you need to hit the skid pad. There are generally about 20 cars on track most DE days, so it would be quite dangerous for you and anyone near you to go out there and hoon it up.
