I love the dual personality of Jerez. For a straight up blue, LeMans but they're all pretty cool.

Funny you mention Jerez. I could never understand why Jerez Black isn't called Jerez Blue! It looks more blue to me than black...

Carbon Black, which has quite a blue hue, also comes to mind.

To answer your question, it all comes down to the paint mixture.
Carbon and Jerez both have overwhelmingly black bases.
Being metallic colors, the other colors in the mixes are what give Carbon and Jerez their "color changing" properties.

Jerez Black Metallic
Paint code - A73
Color ( % of total mix )
Black ( 80%)
Pearl Blue ( 7% )
Dark Violet ( 5% )
Light pearl blue( 4% )
Laser Green( 3% )
Pearl White( 1% )

Carbon Black Metallic
Paint code - 416
Color ( % of total mix )
Black ( 76%)
Special Red ( 5% )
Pearl Blue( 12% )
Dark Blue( 4% )
Brilliant silver( 2% )
Silver( 1% )

Always liked the darker BMW and Porsche blues. Also a fan of the Deep Blue Pearl on the newer GTRs. And I have a soft spot for Athens Blue from Infiniti as I had 2 cars in it for several years.

Forget voodoo you said "Interlagos and Le Mans Blue are two excellent shades from BMW." they make me think of that civic.

This is cool to know! I had a carbon black e46 and now a jerez e90. I absolutely love the colors...just wish they were a little easier to maintain

Thanks all. They all look so different in the various lighting conditions. It's hard to tell from photos online.

I am such a sucker for blue, not even funny.
Love RSP. Love DBP. Love MCB and frosty MCB. OK, I am bias to cars I own(ed).
Looking forward to loving and treasuring IB, when it finds its way into my blue family.

Laguna Seca.

Looks amazing on an E46. Very, very nice on an E92 as well.

I would say it really depends on the car. Laguna seca doesn't work on e9x as well as it does on the e46. On the e9x I would say Santorini fits the car the best.

The blue that wowed me the most though was San Marino blue that I saw on the M6…my jaw literally dropped when I saw it. It's really hard to capture the depth of the blue but this is probably the closest that I've found.

Oh God, I forgot about Santorini. Wow!

Love this thread and all the beautiful shades of blue.

Boy that E34 M5 in Avus sure is pretty. The word "timeless" comes to mind.
