I wonder if those indy shops that charge less than $120 properly use the 10W60 oil or other synthetics...

If they are only charging $120, they are not using the right oil. The proper oil will run between $12 and $17 per litre, and you will need 9 litres for an oil change. Add in the cost of a filter and you have already exceeded $120.

I doubt any indy shop will buy a 65 gallon barrel. They would need to be doing a lot of high end cars for it to make sense.

You're not thinking outside of the box here. There's some value in buying a barrel. After you're done you can fill it with acid and put stuff in it to make it disappear according to Breaking Bad.
