Can the E9X M3s be ordered with painted black OEM 220M forged wheels from the dealer?
I'm wondering, I've seen some pictures of E9X M3s around this forum from the dealer with black OEM wheels. Can our car be ordered with the 220M forged wheels painted black or is it all aftermarketly done?
If the car comes with black oems from the dealer, what color do they paint them? Gloss, semi-gloss or matte? Thanks in advanced!

I don't think you can officially order them yet. I have heard stories of some dealers willing to paint them for you and I think there have been a few who have managed to get the "M3 GTS" wheels from BMW in Canada but I don't think there is an official method of doing this yet.

Black 220M were standard on the "Edition M3" available in various countries including Canada (and also that stripped Australian M3 too, IIRC).
You definitely cannot order them from the factory that way. But there must be a part number for them, however I don't know if you can actually order them from the parts counter (be it in USA or elsewhere) or not. More people seem to be interested in the Black 359M which are found on the M3 GTS and also Mark's M special Individual M3. For comparison, we know those definitely aren't available from BMW yet (if ever) but I am not sure about the 220M. As for finish, the OEM black 359M are semi-gloss, but I'm not sure about the OEM black 220M. You could try and Google "M3 Edition" and see if the press release clarifies. Quote:

Here are the OEM black 220Ms as found on the MY10 Edition M3s from Tischer:
http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=4462 I'm fairly certain that you won't be able to order these from the dealer/factory, unless you try going the Inidividual route, which will be pricey.

Way cheaper to buy a pristine OEM set and powdercoat it professionally. Or even cheaper to just do that on your stock wheels, like many of us have done.

The least costly solution would be to have them powdercoated yourself.

I emailed BMW UK customer services about the finish on the black "Edition" wheels and got....
"the Style 220M 19'' wheels in Jet Black Solid have a powder-coated finish"... Don't know if "Jet Black solid" makes sense to anyone. |
