There is that many threads appearing that it feels more like an Audi forum than a BMW one.

At this point I am thinking....

RS5 >>> M3

Of course the RS5 will be a lot more money, it will weight two tons, it will handle more like a muscle car, and it most likely won't even be an option.

Wrong on the handling, it will actually amaze you how well it handles and sadly you are right, chances are this car won't make it into the US, though I do hope Audi change their mind because you guys deserve the chances to consider it.

No way, M3 stays M3. But I have to admit, I love Audi details (seats color combination, badges.......).

What car do you drive? VW? Audi? Lamborghini? Bentley? Whatever, you are a VAG/Audi fanboy. Why not, but what are you doing on BMW forum if you prefere Audi over BMW?

If the engine is N/A, even with 450hp i doubt it will be much quicker, if at all, than the M3. It's going to be way heavier than the M3 (considering the S5 is..) and I seriously doubt it will match M3's handling. However it still seems to be a very important competitor and looks pretty sexy with than wide stance!

Uh oh. But time.....and road tests.....will tell. Should be about the closest thing to an M3 that Audi will produce.

Lots of us have been asking that same question for a long time now.

My guess is that I think footie secretly regrets getting rid of his E92 M3 though he comes up with countless reasons why it was the right decision (i.e. other cars are better, etc.).

The chance of him is just as small as the chance of Audi ever producing an RS car that is as engaging to drive as a BMW ///M.

Too long to be a coupe without having big wheel arches (see current and past M3 and RS4). Rear exhaust area looks pretty cool but the rest? meh, kinda bland if you ask me.

Of course I regret getting rid of my M, it was and still is an amazing car, but I seldom keep a car long so I was due a change and once owned I seldom repeat the purchase to the exact same thing.

Will everyone see the RS5 as engaging as an M3? Personally I doubt that, but it won't be far off.

Will it be quicker? The simple answer is YES but that is to be expected, after all it's got more power and torque to play with, plus it's got superior traction off the line. But the gap won't be huge, think slightly quicker than a stock C63 through the 1/4mile and upto 200km/h and you won't be far off.

Will it be quicker on the track than an M3? Again the answer will be YES but until the RS5 meets an M3 eqipped with the 'Competition Pack' it's impossible to know if BMW have done enough, my guess is it will be pretty close, otherwise the M3 would have been offered with a power hike as well.

But if the competition based purely on looks the RS5 has wiped the floor with the M3 and C63. It looks like Germany's answer to the GTR but sadly don't expect the same fireworks.

Two words - 8500 rpms!!

High-revving engines forever!!! Beautiful work Audi. Beautiful car, beautiful motor and beautiful interior. I am sure Audi must have cut back on the weight as well making it lighter than the RS4. I believe this car makes around 470 - 480 HP. We will have to wait and see, but that would be my guess.

I am glad Audi decided to stick it out with high-revving engine giving the RS5 a beautiful 8500 rpm redline. GO AUDI! What a sick car with a beautiful race-inspired engine. It continues to embody the true spirit of racing. This is going to be one rewarding car to drive.

This puts marketing division (ooops..I mean M division) to shame for switching to low-revving turbocharged engines in the F series M with no sound to get excited about.

Audi states the RS4 delivers 413 bhp. In reality, whp is 328. You have to be careful what to believe when it comes to Audi. Claimed torque is 328 when in fact wheel torque is 270.

My guess is the RS5 will be another close rival that doesn't knock off the leader. In terms of market position, Audi will never take the top spot. Their name holds them back today and will continue to do so in the future.

Ofcourse, it would have a higher drivetrain loss because it is AWD (20 - 25%), which is why the RS4 dyno'ed at 328 wheel HP. Regarding the RS5, we don't even know the actual output yet, but I can bet it is in the neighborhood of 470 - 480 HP. Nothing less.

Ofcourse, when the RS4 came out, it toppled the E46 M3 even with the ZCP. I am sure Audi would not have brought out the RS4, if it could not comprehensively outperform the E46 on every level. It was not until the E9X M3 came out that the RS4 got outperformed by an M car comprehensively. Now it is Audis turn to bring out a better car.

Seriously let look at it realistically, do you think Audi would bring out a brand new performance car that cannot even outperform a 4 year old platform (E9X M3)?? No way! I am sure this car outperforms the E9X M3 especially with the added horsepower it will be faster on the straights well. If the E9X M3 had got a bump in horsepower with the competition package, I could see it being a very close match up. With 414 HP, M3 has no chance.

Biggest thing is that Audi retained the soul of the RS by putting a race inspired high-revving engine with 8500 rpm, which made me gain a whole new level of respect for Audi, which I have lost for the M division for cheaping out and lowering production costs by slapping a turbo on.
