Ha... yep, I won't drive it that much in the snow, but I'll drive it some. I just bought it two days ago... can't just put it completely away. I won't sleep all winter lol... I'll be sure to wash it every fews days, specially under the car to remove the salt.

I'm the same, I don't daily it in the winter but take it out every odd weekend. People are stupid to park a car like this for months at a time. It'll depreciate just as fast even if its parked. Enjoy the car, life is short.

Conversely, I think people are stupid to let these things rot from the the inside out during winter months. Not to mention the biggest threat of all: other drivers on all seasons or summer tires driving in snow and potentially hitting you day in, day out.

Personally, I'd rather not ruin a low mileage, rare optioned car. And it just makes so much more sense to have a beater. You save on insurance, fuel costs, minimize wear and tear on the M. If it's some boring, high mileage, average M3 then whatever.

NB: this is all said with zero fucks given about depreciation.

You both have good points.. I'm actually looking for a beat winter truck now so we'll c! I want to drive the M as much as possible but at the same time I want to preserve it and yes winter driving can be very slippery with other drivers driving like maniacs... so for this first season, I'll be doing a mix a both and see. I used to own a Porsche Boxster s which I drove I in the winter one season and almost ended up in the ditch (my fault for cornering too fast)... then I kitted it up and put wheels on them and it became a summer only car... I must admit I kind of lost interest in the car because of the long winters in New England and ended up selling (granted I had other reasons). I say this to say that I am totally not into the garage queen thing but I understand the perils of winter driving... so I'll likely do a mix of the two in this winter!

I hear you. Funny enough I find the winter withdrawal makes owning these cars (or other fun cars) even more enjoyable in the summer. To me, the novelty is renewed every Spring and it feels like I got a new car again lol.
