Chances are it was jacked up improperly and the sheet metal is warped.

I'm actually being serious. Saw it happen first hand to a BMW in pretty much the exact spot OP is describing. The floor board metal is rather thin compared to that near the frame rails.

Agreed. This had happened to my old 911 too, right in the rear passenger seat foot area. Pounded right out, though, with a dead blow nylon hammer, after figuring out it wasn't normal (doh!).

Step one: collect underpants
Step two:_________ Step three: profit $ U sure it's not a module of some sort or a wire harness . I have that but it's covered by plastic. Go under the car and see if it's indented. If it looks normal then no one messed up jacking it up |

I'll be pulling the carpet to see. If it is, I will try to get the shippers or my marine insurance to fix it. Thanks.

Apparently this bad boy is under the seat carpet to give it a lift and support. It came loose during shipment. So, no gold, loose ladies or bent metal/rust. I'll take this as good luck and move on.

The bump was under the carpet where a passenger's feet would be behind the driver. I don't know exactly what it is, except it is made of styrofoam and looks like it would support a rise in the carpet just under the seat.
