2011 M3 Sedan rear diff leak

Whats up fellow enthusiasts. Any one had differential leak repair by shop?
I have leak and was quoted 2400 for leak repair. Is that right?

Located Atlanta GA, anyone recommend a shop with reasonable rates? Thanks

I had a pinion seal leak causing the differential to leak. It was about $1200 to replace the seal and flush the differential at the dealership.

Wow! That's highway robbery! There are tons of threads on this to DIY--if you're mechanically inclined. Needless to say, it didn't cost me nowhere near the amounts posted above...even on my own time and materials.

Most likely, I'd wager it's a pinion leak, too.

All the seals/bearings can be installed just by a basic bench press. That's over $1000 for labor is insane.

a rebuilt diff from dan, diffsonline, is $1600 after the core charge. you can change the diff in this car in under two hours. find a new shop.

$2,400 is too much, even with a high labor rate. The job is kind of a PIA, as posted above $1,200 seems reasonable for dealer pricing and obviously less at an independent shop. Check out this DIY here to see what is required of the shop that does the work.

Just did this DIY and it was pretty easy. Also replaced all 3 wear and tears for the driveshaft while I had it off (guibo, center support bearing, cv joint). Took a few days total but it was worth it. Didn't touch the axles of the diff, just replaced the pinion seal.
