Cota - Mvp 2015

Mark opened up registration. Who is in? Sally and I are signed up. I'll have 10 days at COTA in 2014, and need to get started in 2015. May need to splurge for ho-hos for this event since the surface is so easy on tires.

Can't wait to do it again. Turn 1 during foggy morning is outrageous. Track is so damn smooth that even our go pro that fell was found during cleaning.

Meh, it's definitely a challenging track, you can go fast, and the track and entire facility is beautiful, but I personally don't enjoy it as much as some others. TWS for example I think is less of a challenge, but it's a ton of fun because it flows so nicely. The braking zones are fairly light, which means you can get up a ton of speed and then keep most of it around corners (and you save your brake pads!), whereas at CotA you're slower through its flowing segment (Turns 2-11) and spend the rest of the time scrubbing off a lot of speed for hairpin corners, the notable exception being the 16-18 sweeper, which is awesome.

I'll be out in September with Edge Adventures though. Not sure about Driver's Edge in December yet. But wasn't MVP the group that ran a terrible event and nearly ruined the prospects of CotA for all of the other HPDE organizers?

MVP ran a great event in 2013 with almost no drama. I disagree with jphughan's review of the track. Technical and fast and lots of off camber if you run a bad line. It is flat out 8-11. 19 is also fast and fun. Yes - tough on brakes, so get a BBK and true track pads. Super easy on tires though. I kill tires at TWS. Nittos won't last 3 weekends.

I'll be there for Edge Adventures in Sept. as well. But I don't mind going often. What's the cost? I'm guessing a two day deal as well?

MVP is 3 days for $1350. Only 35 cars per session.

As we get closer, we can plan on renting TWS for a small group for a half or whole day. We can start finding out who is interested after Jan 1. If we do the whole day, we can run it in both directions for the folks coming a long way to check it off before they shut it down.

I'm definitely down for a private track day at TWS. Need the Texas connection to make it happen.
