i just noticed that my car was scraping on pretty much every bump, i look undearneather and the driver side shield is almost ripped off...looks like i fell victim to this too.
My question is, do you think dealer will replace this under warranty? Im thinking no since its wear and tear but anyone try? Also how hard is the DIY to replace one.

^^ pretty sure that it will be hard to get the dealer to fix this under warranty.

What is the M3 (E92) clearance from the ground to the undercarriage skirt on the front bottom of the car?
You know the plastic piece that gets scrapped all the time. Thanks.. |

I hit a small piece of truck tire tread last week and it took mine out. Does the center shield come with any screws or do those need to be ordered separately.

Just a hair over four inches assuming you don't have a drop.

Getting ready to replace mine too and I cant figure out what #21 is or if its needed. Anybody know if its on M3's or 3 series with Aero package? It says M Aerodynamics, but a google search returned little if any useful info. Its highlighted green in the parts catalog like its applicable to my car, but my guess it its for non-M3 cars with the Aero package. Any ideas? Thanks |

I just replaced my left side felt block for $35 and some sweat in the garage. Purchased from ECS Tuning (love those guys!) and it was easy to change out, just a few screws. I already had the car on jack stands and wheels off to bleed brakes but I would imagine you could do this without even jacking up the car.
Even for full undertray and BOTH felt blocks, $600 sounds way high.

I also recently replaced the right front piece on my own. No jack needed, just turn the steering wheel opposite the side you are replacing. Got the part from ECS Tuning. Very easy.

mine are looking a bit scraped.this seems like one of those things that most of us will have to do eventually.well, they seem to have an aerodynamic purpose, and protect more important parts.

Question about the quoted portion above-- does anyone know what #21 is and if it's generally needed when these parts get damaged? Last time car was up on lift I *think* I saw the part listed as 21 as partially broken/indented as well (again, from the Austria damage.) It's for 2012 M3 cabrio. Have already ordered the other parts. Any help most appreciated! Last edited by JonNYC; 08-21-2012 at 11:05 PM.. |
