I wanted to buy this car but I don't have a clue if I can without them fixing the issues and i'm not 100% feeling good about them taking apart my car either. |

No, you will not be able to buy the car until this is fixed, it's illegal for BMW to sell them until. I checked with BMW Financial hq.

Okay this is a little messed up...
Does anyone know if this is affecting Canadian cars as well? I tried my VIN in that link that was posted on the first page and got this; "An error occurred with your request. BMW of North America, LLC does not recognize your VIN. Please contact BMW of North America, LLC by phone at 1-800-525-7417 for recall information about your vehicle." I don't get it...does my car not even exist in the database or does need the recall...so confused. |

I find this very interesting:
MARCH 24 BMW has informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it will be unable to meet its March 31 deadline to acquire a sufficient supply of remedy parts for one of the Takata inflators under recall, as required by the November 3, 2015, Coordinated Remedy Order. The alternate inflator that BMW’s supplier had developed to replace the defective Takata PSDI-4 driver-side air bag inflator failed during recent testing. In order to ensure that unsafe air bag inflators are replaced with safe ones, NHTSA is requiring BMW to acquire a sufficient supply no later than August 31, 2016, as detailed in this amendment. NHTSA's priority continues to be ensuring that unsafe air bag inflators are replaced with safe ones.

They are being sent out in accordance with the U.S.DOT by the United States government....has nothing to do with Canada. You should get one from Canada.

Would be nice to have a database somewhere we can check our cars too. Until there is any news I guess I'll just assume there's nothing wrong.

One note to keep in mind is that they group the M3 with 3-series. As a side note, although BMWNA has "North America" in its name, they only operate in the US. if you have any Canada specific questions on Canadian vehicles, you should consult with BMW Canada. |

It should apply. The issue is the airbag itself not the steering wheel regardless if the steering wheel is OEM or the Performance. When the steering was changed from OEM to Performance they just moved the airbag module from one to the other. That's what I did with mine.
