I'll give dean a proper bump here for Mr Coulter at Deans Over the many years I've been around here he has always been a guy who isn't that visible. That's not a bad thing, he doesn't need to be. He is busy doing what he does.. What he does is well known by many. His work ethics and results are never to be questioned by anyone. He runs a stand up shop. I needed work done and if I had the money he is the only one I would have sent my car to half way across the country, but I just couldn't pay the bill. In your situation I would drive there, have a night out and enjoy the service, deans is one of the best, if not the best around. Cheers

Had mine done by deansbimmer last year, drove up from Houston, but had to leave the car there for a few days since I needed to be back the next day.

Definitely worth the trip

Check the number on the bearings, if they are 702/703, that would indicate it came from a 2011 - 2013 (starting at mid 2010 production). 088/089 would indicate prior years. At least it would give an idea of the donor cars year.

Anyone have a shop in the Chicagoland area? Thought about doing them myself, and decided I don't want to. I went as far as VANOS rebuild on my S54, figuring there's too to screw up on this one.

Vanos is as hard as rod bearings, probably harder.

Check the diy out

Just had mine done, 98k miles bought the car this past month. No idea of the oil change history... $900 in parts and $1250 labor. Although add onto that I had motor mounts and other oil leaks fixed which adds money on top of that.

Please post a few quick photos and list your mileage.

Thanks!

2010 E90 M3 - current mileage 79600mi

Previous owner (3rd owner) reported changing out the bearings with OEM 702/703 and OEM bolts around 65000mi, so they have an age of around 15000mi.

I'm no bearing expert but they seem to be worn down significantly, especially considering suchn low mileage on these parts.

I bought the car at 72xxx mi, car has had 3 oil changes (intervals: 731xx, 744xx, 775xx) since, with nominal Blackstone reports.

BE bearings with ARP bolts are now in.

The wear on yours looks no different from the discoloration that was recently shown to be very superficial. I wouldn't be worried. If you are, you can always take some sandpaper to a few shells and see if the discoloration comes out before you hit copper.

29k miles original bearings off a 2013. Not bad but still glad I did it for a piece of mind. Also added a Bimmerworld dipstick while there..

2011 M3 DCT. Owned since 17K miles, just got rod bearings done at 43K. Replaced with BE Bearings and ARP bolts. Also did motor mounts and the oil level sensor (was throwing faults)

I was surprised at the condition. Still glad I got them done and was quite pleased with the service from Dixon Motorsports in Michigan.

Yea light wear, but for just 15k miles it does still seem quite a bit worse than it should be.

I'm still waiting for someone with heavily worn (looking at least) LCI shells that I or themselves can sandpaper down! lol
