This is a pretty rough one we just did. Car was turning over pretty sluggish and had a tick when cold that went away once warmed up. Pulled the oil filter and found a little bit of glitter. Luckily crank wasnt damaged. The tangs on the bearings were just about gone.

Replaced mine this weekend at 97k miles with BE Bearings and ARP bolts, along with spark plugs and motor mounts.

2011 E93 with 89,500 miles. Original bearings replaced with BE bearings and bolts.

Take some more high resolution close up photos and send them to BE. Let Bert take a good look at the photos before installing them (it). The photo you posted appears to show some bare metal (shining). Keep us all updated.

Same deal with my recently delivered set. I spoke with BE and they also told me that the scratches are normal, due to measuring shell clearance. I won't lie - I'm still a little concerned given that a defect could cost $24,000.
One detail I did notice: most, but not all, of the scratches do look like scuffs if you rotate the parts (see my pics). One or two of the marks are still pretty prominent even if rotated though. |
