Were you at that time been aware of the cold-cycle-weak point that your M3 has?
What was your average fuel consumption?
With what transmission was your car equipped, manual or DCT?
Did you tracked it?
Did you modified it? If so, what have you done to it?
Wich kind of gasoline did you used?

2011 E92, 21,000 miles. Always warmed up slowly until at full operating temp. Not beat on, not babied either. Driven like an M car should be. Mobil 1 0w-40 every 5,000 miles. Meticulously maintained. Original bearings (for now) Waiting with disbelief for the engine to explode as soon as my warranty is up.

43,000km on my 2012, still on originals. Sending oil to BS next change.

99% of the time I drive gentle. I only drive about 2km before I hit the highway, then 25km to work, so I never really get on it unless I'm taking the car out for fun.

It's not pointless because with aluminium bearings ... the Blackstone report will show too high ppm of aluminium .

~123K here with an 08 E93 and I believe I'm still on the original bearings. First Blackstone report came back clean.

2007 MT6 - 109.000 KM (68K miles) - original bearings. No ticking/knocking so far.

Im also still spooked by all the storries about "Rod-Bearings-issue" - so this is great to hear that at least some M3's made it....

All this about rod bearings - is it really an issue ?? - or is it the affected owners way of driving ??

Really - I am so spooked that I'm almost looking for parts just to be sure - it is always cheaper to do a maintain-repair rather than rebuilding an entire engine.

Yes - but in a linked thread http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=935368 - [IRISHACE] concludes that basicly only 0.003 % fails - isn't that a rather low rate for a sportscar ?? - or should I really go looking for parts and have my so far non-broken M3 fixed with VAC coated bearings ??

In Denmark - a fix/repair like this could reach 5.000 USD - just for the labour.

Yes I know that thread too .
But these numbers are just forum numbers , and about 80-90 % of the Worldwide ///M3 owners are not on this forum.
And I can tell you my (info) numbers are shocking numbers (Worldwide numbers) !
Also most ///M3 owners don't post their BF , because they think about the value of the car..
Some don't like to read stuff like this and I had PM's about this , they say what do you think...this will do with the value of my car ?
And actualy they are right , but personal I think the truth must be told !
Because the ///M3 is no Kia...
Same thing here in Belgium everything is very expensive and is about + 50 % more expensive than in the US .
And even with replaced bearings VAC or not ....I saw no proof if they are better , maybe they are worse and so only the future can tell .
Who knows ? That's the problem even BMW had no fix ?

For anyone in the northeast, we have been doing a lot of preventative maintenance on E9x rod bearings on both N/A and S/C cars. We replace OEM with WPC treated bearings. PM me for a quote or to schedule an appointment.

Below is how bad it can look. ~75k on these.

Sure its no Honda.. But at 75k do those really seem that bad? Hard to tell from the pics but those look like they could have gone quite a bit longer before any gross failure.
