Also noticed my engine temps at highway speeds were way above normal (take note people, I think this is a big indicator). As soon as I slowed down to 35-40, temps returned to normal. Got home and pulled the oil and found small bits of metal. Sent off the oil to blackstone, no lead detected. Thought maybe I was being paranoid so I took it for another short drive. Ran ok but was ticking loudly in the garage when I got back. Pulled the oil again, inconclusive. Lots of tiny bubbles that looked like metal but were not. Thought again that I might be paranoid (and kept reminding myself that the uoa was good) so I let it sit for a week. Pulled the oil again, all looked ok. Started it, bearing spins. Obvious rod knock immediately. Shut it down and am now typing this. Don't know wtf to do. Thinking of pulling the bearings myself to inspect before getting a new engine (that I absolutely can't afford) but am not very confident in my abilities to drop the subframe without a diy or manual to reference. And if I get that far, I have no idea if the crank has already been chewed up. Life sucks Bearings have been in the car for 13k miles. They are the newest VAC's with arp's. I'm not indicting them yet as it very well could be the install, but right now I'm obviously very unhappy. This was my all time favorite car.... I'll probably be pm'ing some of you guys hoping to pick your brains on getting the subframe down. Hope you don't mind. For those of you running the same bearings, keep a close eye on things.

I've been spelling your name wrong since the beginning...sorry man. Also wanted to say thanks to you and some of the other guys (Victor H and Phonsalb) that I've been pm'ing with. This forum is awesome and the support really helps! I'm not a very wealthy guy, plus I've got a daughter in college and a mom I help support so getting the help to do this work myself is a life saver and I appreciate all of you guys tremendously.

2008 e92 M3 Blown Motor - Hydrolock

My 2008 e92 M3 with approximately 66,000 miles had a catastrophic failure when cylinder 6 fuel injector failed filling the cylinder with fuel, causing the motor to hydrolock. The #6 piston impacted the top of motor creating a window (picture attached) and blew out the bottom of the motor (picture attached).

So how many sets is it of BE bearings that have failed so far...or is it still a secret?

Not that anyone is accusing you of making stuff up again.

There is indeed a performance shop in the UK who has performed several rod bearing changes and who has bought several sets of BE Bearings. I know this to be a fact...

I know its not always easy to follow every thread but if you had you would have noticed my comments about the lack of RB related engine failures in the UK a couple of months ago.
At that time there hadn't been one on any of the main M3 forums.
No doubt some misguided shops are buying and supplying BE bearings sets including Reeve (who I mentioned) but who hadn't reported any failures of UK road cars at that time but who were trying to scare up some business on Cutters.
The engine failure recently noted on Cutters is awaiting a strip down to see the cause which may well turn out to be a bearing failure of some kind.

The shop has ordered "n" number of bearing sets, therefore it's a fact "n" number of engines have had bearing failure. Being in the medical field, this is very similar to how pharma reps sell their drugs, device company reps push their devices, cardiologists sell stents and pacemakers, orthopedic guys sell joint surgeries etc etc

Only three months ago he's your authoritative and trusted source of information. Even earlier today, you said the Green-Eggs vendor made up the story about your authoritative and trusted UK vendor buying BE Bearings. That was until others started confirming it. An hour later, he's no longer your authoritative and trusted source, but another money grubbing scumbag who can't be trusted any longer. This is the type of stuff that is so funny you can't even make it up if you wanted to.

One thing I'm sure we all agree on is that we can all "trust" you to bring us unbiased and accurate report on the engine tear down. LMFAO.

Well no its not a fact...as most engines that have failed from a rod bearing failure are not recoverable by a simple bearing replacement. The shop in question does preventative rod bearing changes when requested.
