I've been spelling your name wrong since the beginning...sorry man
. Also wanted to say thanks to you and some of the other guys (Victor H and Phonsalb) that I've been pm'ing with. This forum is awesome and the support really helps! I'm not a very wealthy guy, plus I've got a daughter in college and a mom I help support so getting the help to do this work myself is a life saver and I appreciate all of you guys tremendously.Last edited by Doc Oc; 07-10-2016 at 10:11 AM.. |

2008 e92 M3 Blown Motor - Hydrolock
My 2008 e92 M3 with approximately 66,000 miles had a catastrophic failure when cylinder 6 fuel injector failed filling the cylinder with fuel, causing the motor to hydrolock. The #6 piston impacted the top of motor creating a window (picture attached) and blew out the bottom of the motor (picture attached).

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

So how many sets is it of BE bearings that have failed so far...or is it still a secret?

At that time there hadn't been one on any of the main M3 forums. No doubt some misguided shops are buying and supplying BE bearings sets including Reeve (who I mentioned) but who hadn't reported any failures of UK road cars at that time but who were trying to scare up some business on Cutters. The engine failure recently noted on Cutters is awaiting a strip down to see the cause which may well turn out to be a bearing failure of some kind. |

The shop has ordered "n" number of bearing sets, therefore it's a fact "n" number of engines have had bearing failure. Being in the medical field, this is very similar to how pharma reps sell their drugs, device company reps push their devices, cardiologists sell stents and pacemakers, orthopedic guys sell joint surgeries etc etc

Well no its not a fact...as most engines that have failed from a rod bearing failure are not recoverable by a simple bearing replacement. The shop in question does preventative rod bearing changes when requested.
