It was actually dumb how it happened. I had the wheel resting against the wall in front of my garage door, and thought "hey, I better move this in case I forget about it and open my garage door knocking it over" (my garage swings out and up) then said "naw, I'm not that retarded". So I left it there for a couple hours, then came back, and opened the garage door, hit the wheel, wheel went rolling around in a circle like a top that was coming to rest (on it's face) and before I could drop the garage door and get to the wheel to stop it from falling, it rolled around in a circle on the ground on it's face putting about 30-40 chips/scrapes all around the edge. I was thrilled about it

I haven't had the best of luck with these wheels, and they were mint when I bought the car. I've hit a couple curbs, and then the garage door incident, so I am just going to get them re-powdercoated a nice gloss black to match my shadow line trim. A local shop is charging €140,00 per wheel, including taking them off the car, removing the tires, acid bath/stripping old paint, powdercoat of my choice, clear powdercoat, and remounting and balancing. I just hope I can keep away from the curbs next time. I don't usually hit things. I am a little ashamed of myself. Luckily they are black so touch up paint isn't too noticeable.

Uh oh, he turned it into a rod bearing thread. It never fails. It's all downhill from here. I am surprised it took 6 pages to get to this point.

Oh dang! I mean, it happens. My ZCP's were mint until my ex girlfriend borrowed the car for a day. She curbed all 4 wheels 😑😑😑😑😑

Nice looking car. Anything beyond that gets me into trouble. Makes me want to get off my duff and clean up my car.

OP, looks fantastic - like new. Like the look from the front, but are you planning on changing out the rear any?

Damn I had no idea powdercoat was that fragile! Reaffirms me wanting to Opti Coat the wheels when I get them done.

Amirsm3 , those wheels look amazing! Do you ever get swirls in the paint from cleaning them? Or does that not happen with powdercoat?

Was also using orange Lake Country CCS pads on my car and I also found that they didn't have the cutting power I wanted even with Meguiars M105 with my Porter Cable DA polisher. Thinking of going with the white pad next run to get the really deep scratches out. Probably need to measure my paint too :/

Eventually I would love to pair up an awesome diffuser and spoiler lip. Actually the first thing that stood out to me was the lack of content underneath the rear bumper. But at the end of the day, it all comes down to spending too much money on an already expensive car! I may want to spend that money on shoes instead...

Another reason to Opticoat is that it helps repel brake dust. Keeps them shining longer.

She went through a drive through and tried to get close to the speaker so she curbed on the barrier. That was two mistakes in one because I asked her not to eat in my car. Later that day, she parallel parked and got both passenger sides when going to the bank.

Nah, she's my ex because she and I just couldn't keep it together after a few months. Nothing serious haha.

When I got them in the mail, I shot them with some spray detailer and they looked fine. The previous owner said the powdercoat was done a couple months prior then the wheels sat in storage so I'm assuming they had ample time to cure. I will say, though, that this is the best powdercoat job I've seen on any wheels I've owned (sans the last set of Volks I had).

I really am still not grasping the big deal of the instagram thing. I just made the profile about a month ago and get flattered when I get more and more followers. I am really not sure what I am trying to sell. I do not work for chemical guys nor am I getting paid my LUX or JB Speed (I did enter the LUX photo contest with my fiance's pics). I am just a veterinary student who gets pampered by a very generous fiance. If you don't want to follow me on instagram, that's OKAY! I did not make an account here to get instagram followers. I made an account to talk to people on this forum about a car we both own. My fiance has his car, I have mine, plus another we share. I decided to make a big intro with pics that my fiance loves taking of me.

Anyways, I would like to drop this subject. I would love to meet you guys at car meets when the opportunity arises, but I'm not sure what that would prove. I do not know all the little factoids of every car like my fiance if you were to quiz me, I just love my M3 and I love detailing!
Reading this thread, at first I was like:

Then after OP posted this I was like:
