That just worked out with them wanting photos of the brushed finish forged wheels on an e92 lol, the events you go to are they all competitive or open to HPDE style runs as well? I am not on your level, not fast enough to run time trials or time attack yet.

Looking at data, my friend ran a 1:41 in his cayman carrying a measly consistent 45 mph in the carousel.. he actually gained +.8 seconds on me in that that turn alone. Since I ended up bleeding down to about 30-ish mph. We had a Miata who ran 1:36.0 carry 55 mph in the carousel. I imagine this will be the next step to gaining easy time at that track!

Next time I am out there I might need to push the carousel a bit more and see how much I can pick up.

So this past weekend was with SCCA HPDE & TT, their "race" weekends are on separate weekends which makes the pace of these HPDE/TT events muchhh more relaxing. More seat time for everyone as well

NASA they run their HPDE, TT and Racing in the same weekend, it feels a bit more hectic but more action to watch. Just a higher headcount overall

We'll get you up to speed man! I spent about 1.5 years in my subaru doing all the HPDE's, and then 4 weekends in HPDE 3 (Advanced, for SCCA) in the m3 before I made the leap to instructing and time trials. The beauty of our cars is that it's a very capable machine, a few tips and tricks here and there and you'll pick up time super fast

Anyone that's ever run the common 265/295 combo ever go down to square 275s and feel like its very obvious the rear has less traction? Obviously there is less rubber but is it really significant or not?

I went from 275/295 on 19s to 275 square on 18s.

Technically you have less grip in the rear, because tire contact patch is smaller. But the car handles *so much better*. Less rotation mass, more balanced. Much more tossable in my opinion. I run square setups now on both M3s.

Go to a NASA weekend if you want to see as much action as possible. They pack the schedule and you will see it all: HPDE from beginner to very advanced, time trial, Spec Miata, muscle car-only, etc. Paddock will be absolutely packed with the whole gamut of cars. You will not be bored.

Where are you finding the noticeable reduction in rear traction? Entry, mid corner or exit?

Since I am on 19", I can't answer your question directly. But when I tried 275/30/19 275/35/19 compare to my usual rear of 295/30/19, the rear was not as planted as I am used to.

I can't say it effected my laptime, it less planted as I was used to. The two rears I tried were MPSS and V720

Not having the rear planted, allowed more rotation, so it is not necessarily a bad thing. However for track I prefer 295/30/19, for the street I prefer the 275/35/19

I guess it comes down to personal preference, but I would frankly want as much tire as I can get. The M3 is heavy and has decent power.

Hate to say so but talking more theory at this point. I'm still pretty new to the car but doesn't mean I can't do some research and then try to stack the deck in my favor. And tire size isn't everything to it either because I know say a 275 100tw tire will certainly provide more grip than say a 295 ps4s or something in that similar summer tire tier.

Car will always stay NA so won't ever see but so much more power than stock.

I know it's a vague question but I'll take any info I can get. I'll also say it will likely never be a track only car. Always needs to stay streetable for nice weather.

There's lots of things you can do to help the balance if it's too oversteer biased for you. Softening the rear compression will help at corner exit. Mid corner can be solved by softening the rear or stiffening the front sway bar. For entry oversteer you can soften the rear rebound. Lower rear ride height, and more toe-in will make the rear more planted/stable in all phases of the turn.

So you got many options that you can play with while still keeping it perfectly streetable.

MSI makes nuts to go with their studs and that's what I recommend. Not sure which version of CORE4 you got but mine use MSI nuts

Core4 got back to me on Monday and was able to add deez nuts to the order.

I just ordered them so not running yet, but after breaking a bolt I'm going as big/strong as possible - 14mm MSI.

I'm running 12mm, on SC car with hard compound slicks (RR). But no aero...

Given their success with GTR race cars I didn't want the hassle of drilling everything out to accommodate the 14s.
