Again, thank you for this guide, I've been using this set up for a while now. One addition to recommend is that for the rear calipers which use the washers I'd replace all four BMW Disc Brake Caliper Bracket Mounting Bolts - 34206850536. I believe that using the 2x2mm flat washers might cause less bolt thread into the caliper and the existing bolts might come lose (mine did), even when the correct torque is applied (the torque for the rear brake caliper to wheel carrier is 65nm (47.9 ft-lbs)).
You will notice that the new bolts have a teal colored coating on the tip, likely threadlock. |

I was told by BSI upgrades on Facebook that to install F8x M brakes would only require adapters that cost only 240$. Is this true? Another company VYS garage said I would need F8x hubs and rotors. BSI upgrades doesn't send large packages because their overseas in Poland, but if they did they say I just need the adapters with the calipers and I'd be good to go. I hate e9x calipers, for some reason I just need my calipers to be a nice shiny red or blue if that's what's easier to get at the time.

For the folks that did this upgrade. Just wanted to confirm what was listed. So we are to use the e9x brake lines and not the f8x ones? A post a while back mention something about the thread on the hose is much longer and doesn't seat all the way? Thanks for any help/feedback.

Since the ends of the brake lines are the same, I choose to use the E9x M3 Brake lines and they keep it OEM looking.

I just finished this mod along with the F80 flange to use the M14 bolts. A couple of notes to share with the community:
Front is very straight forward once you splice the speed sensor wire. No complication at all Rear was very troublesome: * the handbrake support plate rub against the rear rotor and the outer lip needs to be trimmed off about 2 mm. * using a 2mm washer will get the caliper to clear but it doesn't center the caliper on the rotor. I did some test fitting and it needs about 4mm washer. What I ended up doing was cutting my left over subframe bolts and enlarging the hole of those washers to clear the M12 bolts. They work perfectly. With this, I upgraded to use a different bolt that's longer. BMW Part number 07119906199. These are 10.9 grade (same as the original bolt) but longer. Tightened to 81 lb ft following the f8x m3 forum spec. Official spec is 30 Nm + 90 degree. Your call. * the rear dust shield needs to be trimmed to not rub the rotor. Furthermore, it needs to be trimmed around the rear caliper ears as it won't clear I honestly don't know if I would have attempted this if I had known the rear requires so much work and trimming. I really like the end result though. Good luck. Here are some pictures for reference. |

I assume the questions were towards me so I will try to answer them here.
Erickuokwa I am running the RAC 19 wheel. They are definitely closer then the oem brakes but it's good enough imho. It would probably clear some 18 but I wouldn't do it myself for the risk of wheel damage with trapped rocks. Whatever wheels you use, make sure the bolt hole clears the m14 bolts first. I had to enlarge mine with a reamer just a bit. zcp312 I didn't reach out to Tom, I just sourced the parts myself. Good luck. |

I understand that front abs sensors need to be handled with. Does that hold for the rear axle as well?

EDIT: I'm convinced those are parts for repair and aren't on any specific factory code (EDC, wheel models) nor CS/GTS editions. Half a degree at the hub rather than tower would be nice but yeah, unlikely it's going to be on a wrecker car unless it's already been repaired prior. BNIB from dealer/dealer parts network is going to be the only feasible option.
