Sound

There is great value in having something that can be used daily without continually sounding like an F22 at take-off! Don't get me wrong, I love the sound but the Dr. Jekyll , Mr. Hyde quality of the car is what sets it apart from dedicated 'racers' out there and one of the reasons I bought it. If Harrop can make the product 'flexible' I'd more inclined to buy it.

I don't get the complaining about the whine...I loved the sound of Mustang Cobras with the Eatons and that whine, and now the S65 with the Harrops...sounds like a win for me.

Until now the focus has been getting the SC calibration to market. I've seen and heard the system to quieten down the whine and it's extremely effective but has not been as much of a priority as the calibration. Like everything there will be extensive testing of this adaptation before release to market.

The stock air box which is used is very open and reflects the noise from the Supercharger straight back through the air filter and out the lower duct which is why the whine is so pronounced under load.

It's good to have a choice though

Don't get me wrong either. I like the whine too but there are those times when you are bullied and you don't want to give them an excuse for being blown away. Let 'em wonder what hit 'em.

Also, I agree that I don't always want to sound too bad ars.

When you're in the car the sound is very intoxicating. It just eggs you on to floor it every time and just keeps on going. I can see how it can be too loud for some although unless you're on the gas its very faint and almost nonexistent at cruising speed. I do get a lot more cars wanting to race me tho.

Sorry guys.. have been out of the office and trying to catch up. Meff - rec'd your PM and will get back to you today - apologize for the delay.

Here is a short video sent to me from the customer in Texas on the track - all the cars are running very strong!

We have another one going out to a forum member here in a week or so. Will be great to hear his feedback since he has an F80 as well.

hp/lb

The Harrop web site shows 376.5 kw and 562.3 nm, or 504hp and 414 ft/lb for stage one...

Just an FYI guys, I got to get a ride in Mike's car and man traction is such an issue. Mikes car is running 295s out back with the rearend strengthened with new bushings and such and the car just rips. I needed to change my shorts when the ride was done. If I was to do a blower, this is the way I would go. I love that whine..its almost like nuclear deterrence.

Thanks for the ride Mikey..

Dave

And people say the M3 doesn't have low end torque...

Anytime Dave, next time you drive!

How would the results be different in SAE vs what Harrop has on their website?

The dyno I saw on harrops website was not a Dynojet so it should be compared only to other dynos on the same kind of dyno. Not much use to most of us who are more familiar with Dynojet results.

Sounds awesome! Love the shifting action. Looks and sounds like he is double clutching... he is working it like an instrument.

Here's the link:

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1060982

A number of questions have come in with regard to power gains - and Harrop is going to be averaging results and providing a figure. In terms of power gain, it's roughly a 50% gain over stock, which would put this kit on par with the 600/625HP kits out there today. It's great having a substantial torque gain even in the lower RPM's, as most of the centri kits out there aren't making above 6PSI until 7,000 RPM. This makes the kit much more fun and responsive in daily driving, and negates the need to run up to redline all the time. This kit gives you full boost in the mid 3,000 RPM range as compared to roughly 2 or 3 PSI as provided by the Centri kits available.

I know... I need a Dyno that can go over 8000rpm, but it's a good reference. Great tuning by Mike@BPMSport.
