Myself and plenty of other M3 owners really appreciate the work you and others are putting into the "solution"

Seems you are seeing only the sunny side ?
Also forget about BMW goodwill over here they don't even know that word , same thing when second engine blows ,when first engine blows under waranty it's replaced under warranty by BMW by a rebuilt engine from previous bearing failure .(when still under warranty)
But when second engine blows it's for your pockets deep or not even under warranty time period ! (2 years over here)
And I'm out of warranty with 32K on it,and with 0 problems .
But the S65 has a problem and a big Worldwide problem !
I don't know what to say. If you have an e9x that is out of warranty and are scared of it, then sell it. That's the only option I see. No one is forcing you to deal with this issue If you don't want to.

FYI, I'm at almlst 84k miles on mine so I don't have a warranty either. I'm not concerned though, I'll deal with the issue without BMWs help.

Should make the market good for the DIYers who can do a preventative maintenance rod bearing change for $500. It is common for prices to drop when cars go out of warranty and are known for the possibility of a high priced repair. When I bought my E90M3 used from a BMW dealer with CPO warranty, I could have bought an out of warranty E60M5 for the same price. Maybe I should have bought the E60M5.

For now my E92 is a keeper , my S65 runs just perfect but it's realy hard to read on here that some of us even when they know about our bearing issue they just reacting that nothing is or was wrong !
You know it too , and sure I could also bury my head under the sand and acting such as nothing is wrong .
Agreed with you that you will deal with the issue, same thing here but when engine blows without any warning...we saw that too on here, than it's too late !
Even with a bearing replacement with the low friction coating such as Clevite creates new questions , who says or is there any proof that those bearings are better ?
Strange thing is some are jumping around about the bearing fix and thinking that's it...the bearing fix , but actualy we saw nothing and maybe they are even worse !
Realy don't get this because I don't see my S65 as a lottery game !
This can also create complicated situations when engine blows with other bearings than BMW Oem , because if engine blows with other bearings than BMW Oem bearings..at that moment who's responsible ?
BMW ?
No way ! So and what's next ?....Waiting for Santa Claus ?
But let's hope for both of us that we are having a good S65 because there are also good S65's out there .

That's my point.
- You can complain about it over and over again, and hope for the best.
- You can sell the car
- You can replace the rod bearings with new OEM ones if you are that scared of your engine blowing up without a sign
- You can wait for the new rod bearings from Clevite

As you can see, there are plenty of options. I just know that I'm not waiting for BMW to help me. So far, I've switched to M1 0W40, do very regular oil changes, make sure the engine is warmed up properly, and always send my oil in to Blackstone so I can see the trend. Eventually, I'll do the rod bearings because I'm starting to get up there in mileage relative to the rest of the forum.

That IMO, is so much better than hoping for BMW to do something about it. I'd rather be proactive in all this than hope for the best. You can either enjoy this awesome car, or read too much into it on the forums.

Agreed. There are many of us waiting for the clevites before replacing the bearings.

Frankly I have been more than patient with you. You're displaying bad faith in your lecture of my posts which readers will have noticed i think. Forget about the subject, even forget about cars for one minute, I had to quote my penultimate post "there is a risk with owning this car" because you missed my answers and now 2 posts later you write "So now there is suddenly a problem with the s65". No im-becile, it's not now, it's in my first post. If you are not capable of a minimum of integrity in your responses you're discrediting yourself and it makes no sense to reply to you.

The E60 has the same rod bearing issues. A friend's M6 blew the engine from rod bearings. The car had 30k miles and was idling in a parking lot when it seized.

1- You was saying BPM tune = A flash hacker !
Because you saw my car is BPM/Tuned in my signature .
Maybe I could ask Mike-Benvo what he is thinking of your comment ?

2-S65's blown only with tune !
Most blown S65's are stock !

3-What do you think it is when BMW has software updates such as the latest 240E ?
It's actualy the same thing as a tune it's actualy better software !
And for you it's the cause of all the bearing failure ?

4-The best part...
You accused me about "Integrity" And in the same comment you call me an "Imbecil"....That's realy great from you !
I was only saying what I think about our damn bearings f@cked up by BMW !
BTW...I knew it already before I was buying my car that something was badly wrong with the bearings of the the S65 .
Because the old ///M5-6 had exactly the same bearing problem, and the V10 was the base for the S65 engine !
All those bearing failures are dating from 10-12 years ago .
It's not our mistake, it's written in 3 letters !
But think maybe we can better talk of other things where's no need to call me an "Imbecil" !
Actualy I'm here to talk about our cars, and that's sadly including bearing failures and the truth of the cause , and not to reproach other people !

C'mon guys lets all just get along. Phillipe, take it easy man. No need to burst a blood vessel.

Tuned or not, there is evidence that bearings could be a problem on this car. Not enough info to confidently extrapolate what portion of the population is suffering bearing failure, but there are failures regardless of environment, tune, etc. and these failures are premature.

Spot on ... being proactive and try to mitigate the damage. That's exactly what I am doing ... everything possible within my power to stop the shit happening. If it happens so be it. I am going to try M1 0w-40 for at least 12 months and see what the results are. If something happens in the 12 months and the engine goes kaput I'll accept it. Such is life. There are worst things happening in the world such as suddenly losing loved ones. This is only an engine.

I do understand Philippe's frustration and lack of support and acknowledgment from BMW. We cannot change that and unless something drastic happens (and I hope it doesn't), BMW will not initiate a campaign to do the bearings.

Guys, take it easy. Philippe is a very respected member on this forum, and has been a vocal campaigner against this engine issue. He's not alone and there is a little bit of that in all of us, but he has vented it publicly.

He's paid good money for this car just like I have because you have to mortgage your house to own an /// car outside the NA. It's that expensive. So what he's saying is if we are paying that kind of money we need an equal aftersales support and acknowledgement from BMW, which point blank have been refused.

We all have an opinion and have the right to voice it. That's the best part about having forums like this.

If it blows up it was going to anyway even if you didnt change to the 0-40. You know my stance on the thinner oil/clearance. I know RG and I see most things the same way.

I don't want my Lead count to keep going up. My previous sample read 2 and the next 4. People who have had Lead reading with 10w-60 have gone to have zero reading with M1 0w-40. I am trying to reduce any wear whatsoever. Trying to mitigate the damage and try anything I can. Simple.

Also I want to monitor the oil temp. Even in the winter sometime depending how long I have driven the car it's around 96-98 Celsius. If that drops below that means the oil is flowing and lubricating well. The main thing here is lubrication and that will happen with increase or better flow. You don't want to the oil to overheat or cook.

I don't know whether you notice that the TWS comes out black at every oil change.

Given you've been using M1 0w-40 for a long period have you noticed the colour of the M1 compared to TWS when you change oil?

I know. I could have had a fancier, faster car for the same money and changed the bearings. Would have cost me only slightly more for an extra 2 bearing sets.

The M5 isn't faster than the M3. Maybe slightly in a straight line, but in the corners it's a complete overweight pig. Reliability is also a lot worse for the M5. The SMG gearbox is terrible. It also has the problematic high pressure vanos system. And a few electric gremlins here and there. There is a reason why their value drops like a rock on the used car market.
