Is this going to be the kind of kit an average "backyard mechanic" can bolt on themselves? Or is a professional installation going to be needed?

That sounds really mean. Any idea why the iDrive was constantly bitching in that first video, though?

The best kind of uninformed ignorance their is. Good work. As for hp claims, has AA made any yet? I would find it highly doubtful the s/c addition will make the M3 600 hp. As a pure guess I'm saying the s/c will add 6-7 psi and bring the hp up from 414 to around 515-525. **edit: I see AA has dynoed the car. Give up the details AA, nothing like possible Christmas pre-orders huh? Numbers please!** That would take quite a bit of boost to make 600 hp. AA was the compression ratio lowered quite a bit for the s/c addition? Any 1/4 mile testing yet? Times? |

Ignorance is claiming it takes a lot of boost to hit 600 hp, when ESS has already hit and posted dyno's of 600 wheel on pump. They also hit the mid 500's wheel on 6 PSI on pump. I guess that is the benefit of having incredibly good flowing heads, forged internals, and a motor built to take 8400 rpm without breaking a sweat. The internals don't need to be touched and the compression does not need to be lowered. You get off boost power and response of a 12.0:1 naturally aspirated masterpiece of a motor combined with an incredible forced induction top end, best of all worlds. Stop guessing and do some research, come back when you are at a level to contribute. Last edited by Sticky; 12-23-2008 at 08:10 PM.. |

Correct the ESS kit on pump with 9 PSI hit 600 wheel. With proper tuning and an improved intake the stock motor seems to respond very well to boost. |

The first kit on the West Coast will be installed by us at Auto Talent We will be providing technical support to the local region. So, feel comfortable that there is someplace near.
AA's expertise with superchargers/tuning throughout the years gives us confidence to say that this might be their best kit yet. Horsepower is one thing if you want to compare dyno graphs but power that can be put to the ground is what is important. Not saying that AA doesn't have the capabilities to make the most power but more than the right amount might be too much which will cause traction problems & might take a lot of getting use to. |
