I meant I got the tracking number, but it's coming up as invalid on UPS.com. Jimmy, any idea what's up with that?

That usually happens when you get a tracking number before the actual item has been shipped. It's probably sitting in a dock waiting for ups to pick it up, scan, and ship it. Give it a day and it should start working.

It'll be delivered this morning, but then it's going straight to EAS for ceramic coating. Should be on the car by next weekend.

The only problem I might see with coating Inconel is that it tends to be a lot less chemically reactive than other typical exhaust materials, so it might not take a coating as well. But I would think ceramic coating's baking process would take care of that. Definitely possible to transfer a thin coating of "stuff" to Inconel if you get it warm enough to form an oxide layer.
As far as affecting the performance or longevity of an Inconel part...very unlikely. Inconel is one of the most chemically stable and thermal cycle tolerant alloys available, one of the reasons it's such a great high pressure/temperature chemical reactor material.

EAS's coater was backed up this week, so the exhaust won't be ready till Wednesday, which means it won't go on the car until Friday. Bummer.

I see that BMW offers a separate M Performance exhaust for the E90 and E92/93. Is the difference between these two units length?
If I plan to install a Challenge rear diffuser and the M Performance exhaust, let's say, would it be better to opt for the E92/93 version to ensure the exhaust sticks out a bit more to match the added length of the diffuser (so the exhaust doesn't look like it's hidden underneath the diffuser)??? |
