That figure was USD for the cost of seats + custom upholstery (hide and labor).

If you just need your driver's seat done, I strongly recommend TM Customs in Woodbridge. They fixed a friend's stock BMW seat before. The price was very, very reasonable. Old Italian dude who's been in business for decades and has all sorts of quality hides to match to.

~$7K in seats that are a completely frivolous expense (as my stock ones are absolutely mint) is a hard one to justify. That's supercharger money. The supplier from who I was going to purchase the upholstery from jacked up his prices 50% this year.

Back to the basics: LMs were dropped off for a custom rebuild a few days ago. Tires should be here tomorrow and that should have me ready to roll for Spring 2019 (along with fresh oil, brake fluid, and possible coolant flush too)!

Autocouture motoring quoted me $1k per seat. Might be worth it to ship your seats down to them

If that's the case it isn't the highest quote I've heard of tbh lol. Still I agree a lot more than I'd probably like to spend on that.

I was really only looking to reupholster an aftermarket driver's seat mostly because I'm not 100% satisfied with the stock seat and not because of the current condition. Something to look into though, thanks!

I should've clarified. The labor was not including putting the upholstery on the seats, just putting together the leather covers. I would be doing the re&re lol.

Hmm, maybe a few years ago. At today's exchange rate it's a 34% added hit. Not worth it.

In any case I'm putting this project on the back burner and putting the Sportsters in storage until I can justify needlessly evaporating $2k-$3k on red leather covers lol.

There's some guys that redo them in Poland that sell recaro sporsters on eBay,I think it would be cheaper if you send them your seat covers they can do them in whatever color you want and send them back and then install.

Biggest drawback is still the steering compared to the E92. The loads of torque is fun and it's settling in quite nicely. Do miss revving it out but the F80 pulls strong to redline.

Yup, "RecaroMax" from Poland. His prices shot up by 50%...

Trust me, I have explored every possible avenue on this project to minimize the costs (including buying my own Fox Red hide to provide to local upholsterers) lol. Custom seats is just one of those mods that you gotta pay to play.

At present, I'm happy to sit this one out lol.

Not necessarily true but good work yes you have to pay for. I have set of recaro sporsters in one of my other cars and about 10 years i went to get a quote at local shop so I snapped a pic of some customers seats in burnt orange. This is amazing work.

Got myself a replacement E90 M3, this time in Sparkling Graphite Metallic w/ Palladium Silver interior. Previous one owner car and 6MT of course. Bought sight unseen.

Here it is fresh off the shipping truck. Will write a longer post one of these days on why I had to replace, but suffice to say, at least today, it is a happy ending to a sad tale.

P.S. Anyone looking to sell their carbon leather trim for an E90, shoot me a text, as I'm interested in swapping out the aluminum trim.

Manage to fix this yet? Check the second video in the below thread. There's a piece in there related to pounding the heat shield to fit the shape of the car as apparently, even after tightening you may have a piece rubbing against the drive shaft causing the rattling. I ended up getting my mechanic to do this, but it worked for me. Good luck.
