you keep missing the point. You're on a track at an HPDE or even better comp event. Many spectators take pics, and that carnage is what attracts people; sh1t we're here discussing it. What I'm saying is it's funny that people are like, "take it down" there's no ID or plate visible on the car and there's no one saying who it is, so who cares. The point, again, is that its' 2013. Expect everyone to have photos and to post them at their will. It is what it is. |

Hugh - it is obvious your view is slanted because you work in the insurance industry and think an HPDE person is going to screw the industry out of a claim. Everyone that tracks is telling you the same thing yet you refuse to listen. You do understand that perhaps a driving group will just not invite you back, correct? Coming to the track with a particular organization is a privilege, not a right. Don't find yourself with nowhere to track.

I agree, the bit about not stopping in the grass is useful for some but could be done without refering to a particular incident.

It still bothers me is that the same people who are preaching the "morality" angle here are the same ones who sound like they are trying "spin" their wreck story to the insurance companies. like there are alternate versions of the truth? C'mon.
Be HONEST and you have nothing to hide or worry about. OP presented this thread (and pic) with no disrespect to the driver. This isn't People magazine and nobody here is gawking. It was an unfortunate accident but promoted a dialogue of certain hazards on the track.

I don't want people to think I may have done the same and maybe things are miscontrued; but what I'm saying is that in 2013, expect things of this nature (i.e. pics plastered all over the internet).
Believe me I would not have taken the pic, but it's not unreasonable is all I was saying. And the point of the no plate thing is more for warranty issues etc. Do some research and you'll see going back years, car dealers have become pretty savvy w/ regards to denying warranty claims based on abuse and the aforementioned being found somewhere online Either way, hope it works out for the driver! |

Thank you!! Some logic here on M3post, finally ![]() ... that's the point, there was no ID'ing anyone, just a random pic of an M3 on fire.\ Shit, this could've been on the side of the interstate for all people no, right?? This atitude about the pics thing during events like this no doubt occurs w/ insurance in mind. |

Not to put too fine a point on it, but many posters whom I have offended with a photograph (and did not wish to offend) were not similarly reluctant to participate in a recent thread commenting on a video in which an unfortunate novice crashed and hospitalized himself. So I am totally flummoxed to find myself needing Nomex underwear off the track. But thanks for letting me off the hook (I think?).

My thinking is that any incident stays at the track unless the person(s) involved wants to post up pictures and talk about it on a public forum. So far with the incidents that I have been around, have stayed with the parties involved and that has been the end of it.However incidents can be used to learn from for the future.

I disagree with the logic that "it's going to be all over the internet, so why not post it here". This is an M3 board and I prefer to let the owners tell the story.
And I've seen plenty of destroyed cars at HPDE days GT3's, Z06's, M3's Ariel atoms etc. I've even seen instructor laying in the grass after a student rolled a 2002. I don't take pics and don't post them. Just my opinion Last edited by Shaung; 11-27-2013 at 09:21 AM.. |

He didn't crash though. I have track insurance for a crash. He parked his car in dry grass. That could happen at parking for an outdoor concert or just about anywhere. No real track incident in my opinion other than he was at a track.

I didn't get to see the car during or after the fire. On my next session out after the incident, I came over the hill at 14 and saw the entire field charred.
I knew it was cold and dry out this weekend, but that fire must have really spread fast.
