13 years is nothing. Come back in a decade and we can start talking about E92 OEM parts availability.

(If anyone has NIB M Performance CF parts available, PM me)
We're already at that point, and arguably past it.

When I say OEM, I'm talking about the original German-made parts, not the newer "OEM" replacements that have quietly shifted production elsewhere and often don't seem to have the same quality or longevity. I've had friends, and experienced it myself, replacing "OEM supplier" parts far more often than we should.

A huge number of suspension components that used to be sourced from Germany are now coming out of Malaysia, including many Lemförder parts.

Whether people want to admit it or not, the supply chain and manufacturing base for E9X OEM parts has changed dramatically over the last decade, making these cars a bit more frustrating to own if you're one of the OEM/OEM+ purists.

The track guys have it easy by comparison. There's a massive aftermarket for dampers, bushings, control arms, bearings, mounts, and just about everything else. If you're willing to deviate from stock, there are arguably more options today than ever before.

The problem is that even the track crowd still relies on certain OEM components, and that's where things start getting annoying. Parts that were once consistently German-made are now sourced elsewhere, quality can be hit-or-miss depending on the batch, and some formerly trusted OEM suppliers don't carry quite the same reputation they did 10-15 years ago.

So while 13 years may not sound old, we're already well into the phase where sourcing the "right" OEM parts takes more effort than simply ordering by part number.

Almost as annoying as the people on here who end all their comments with their names. This isn’t an work email bud, it’s a car forum. No need to sign off with a signature when we can see your username two lines above your comment.

He overdoes the clicking to the opposite side, just to look stupid. I’m sure he does this on purpose to generate comments. All you do is tap the stalk, you don’t push it to the other detent.

PS the manual cancellation of the blinking can be coded to happen by tipping to same direction, to opposite direction or both.
I’m not a huge E92 fan (love the V8 though) and definitely not a fan of Doug, but I think the turn signal was a great design.

I had it in my 2017 M240 and was disappointed when they went back to the typical controls in my 2019 M2C.

Doug doesn’t know the difference between a soft touch and a hard press of the stalk. A soft press on either side will stop a hard pressed blinker lock. I used to see new dealer plate BMW’s changing lane left and signaling right until they figured it out themselves. German design loves complication and options just to do so sometimes.

Just randomly showed up in my feed. Funny, but actually a highly informative video for an E92 newb like me. Had no idea there was a flashlight in the glove. Had no idea there was a non-comfort mode option which is the reason why the fob slot is there for all. Had no idea we had auto rain sensing wipers.

lol
