original A/C condenser. Radiator is brand new. A/C condenser is only in place because of weight requirements by class. It'll be gone in December.

Shop cutting into my fenders:

Shop had to relocate vacuum pump as it's right there behind the fender on the driver side.

It's not but were you expecting something much more pretty? It isn't gonna be much more pretty than this, heh.

Hehe

I guess it's all relative. If this was some DIY project that would be one thing. I just expected a much 'prettier' finished product from a shop that you paid to do the job, that's all. Maybe my expectations are just too high

It's only temporary anyway, I plan on replacing all these body panels with bespoke carbon fiber shit in a few months.

Last track event was at Buttonwillow, and we were doing CCW1. This is kind of a tricky track layout because it's not run very regularly, but honestly, I really like it.

This time out, I had a lot of work done to the fenders and had the ride height lowered as far as the coilovers will allow me - 3.5". Maybe after some more time they will settle. The combination of this, and the fender cutouts meant I actually had quite a bit of downforce in the front. I noticed this tremendously as the car was balanced through high speed corners even with aggressive wing angle.

The car sat for months, and even though the shop drove the car out at least once a week for 10+ minutes this wasn't enough to keep the battery charged. I'm going to need to either have this sit on a tender at least overnight before a track day or have something to cut off the parasitic drain.

I noticed something was wrong when I was driving due to the tenor of the engine noise changing after about a lap - it would go from its usual singing voice to a much deeper one. I had thought the intake fell off or something like this, but when I came back into the pits, nothing.

After the 2nd session I had a check engine light and I was like wtf is this? Turns out my old bugbear the camshaft position sensors had triggered again. StripclubDJ reset these for me, and I let the car run for about 20 minutes, just idling, hoping that the alternator would charge the car up.

Car was fine during the 3rd session and I was actually able to kill 4 seconds off my best time in Session 2. Was super happy with the car.

Also, I noticed the hood vents helped tremendously with keeping the temperatures down. I noticed this as deep into the session I noticed the car start to pull the redline back at the start of a long straight but towards the end, the engine would cool off enough that it would immediately retract. This was definitely a welcome improvement from previous track days.

Also, one other thing, I neglected to check the fluid level of my ChillOut quantum cooling system, so first two sessions I had no fluid being pumped through the chiller (I noticed this and shut the system down right away). 3rd session, I had sourced from distilled water and topped off the system and we were back in business. Just antoher thing to add to my checklist.

I visited the aero vault factory in Henderson, NV a number of years ago. They've really thought things out and I thought their welding quality was good.

If I were doing it again I'd get an aero vault with an SUV (X5/Cayenne/Audi whatever) as the tow vehicle. Shade is invaluable and having things out of the elements when towing is nice as well.

Got a set of track wheels for my RS - 19" BBS E07, 19x9.5 ET41/19x12.5 ET41

The advantage here is that instead of the stock 20"/21" wheels which really only leave me one option of a track tire - the Michelin Pilot Cup 2 or Pilot Cup 2R, I can fit Pirelli DHA slicks in 19s: 275/675-19 for fronts, 315/705-19 for rears.

The amusing thing is that I had to swap out the bolt

It looks like Laguna Seca on 10/23 and 10/24 will be the next outing for this car. I had hoped to have all the track prep work done (harnesses / harness-bar / DSC controller / exhaust) but that's been delayed to next Thursday/Friday 14-15 Oct.

I have a private track day on the 12th I wanted to take the car to, but won't be ready. Oh well. I think I'll take the Turbo S and see how that is on track.

Next track event is Buttonwillow the 9th/10th. This will be 2nd and 3rd days respectively for my Falken RT660s. I looked and these tires are backordered again until December at a minimum so now I need to make another tire choice.

I have a set of 18x10.5s and 18x11s. I will probably try experimenting with 285/295/30 tires next, but the only thing likely available are A052s - which don't really last long either.

I'm leaning toward Hankook RS4 given the 660 backlog.
