I'm going to have them flash the latest DME for an additional labor fee and then apply the DINAN tune. |

$270 for a tune has me tempted, but I'd like to know whether the Dinan tune is on the early software. If so, using the later software that I have already had flashed may be just as good. I would not mind a bumped rev limiter also.
I am not interested in paying more for a tune because I may buy a used supercharger kit in the next year and will have to get a tune for that. |

Hmm. I was just looking into an ECU tune. I wonder if any of the other vendors will price match.
I was looking at BPM, ESS and others. Need the ECU tune & DCT combo. |

Well got the Dinan tune in yesterday and I can say that yes I can feel and hear a difference. I wouldn't go out and say it will make your car that much faster but If I had to do it again I would at the discounted price. When it was all said and done I paid 357 installed and took about hour. My initial expressions was "Wow" not that it was stupid fast because I have had many 600hp 600tq cars but that it felt so much more responsive. I started with M mode off and traction control off and punched it. The car broke loose the tires unlike before. I ran through the gears 1-4 full throttle and was pleasantly surprised. It was like M mode where you it was so sensitive. I later put on M mode and that felt great also. You could feel this through out the RPM range that you get the sense that every thing has been bumped up a bit. I have the Dinan Intake in route so right now All I have is my MPE. car runs great. If you are thinking about doing this and not looking to go crazy with your car and want a nice little bump for 360 bucks installed I would do it 100 times over again.

I got this done about a week or so ago and the car feels a lot sharper all in all with labor was 383.99 from bmw of Louisville. If you are iffy about it I would jump and do it now

I was thinking about the same thing going with a pulling but decided on the intake instead that is on its way. I did some research and here mixed reviews about the pulley. If I were you I would do it and if you DCT get the tune as well. Im 6mt so I did not but I hear it makes a would of difference in how smooth and fast it shifts

I thought the raised it to 8600 but, I have only gotten to 7500 or so since then. I need to drive it haha it just sits in the garage.
also the dct tune makes the car shift smoother not sharper which I would get the gts flash instead

I think I'll get the ECU and DCT tune too. Can't be that bad for $500. Would also like to hear more from those who got them from stock without prior tunes.

From a BMW dealership, I got quoted $399 out the door (online price for ECU + DCT tunes), no taxes / labor... Probably gonna run with that. Not sure if he quoted me wrong, but hopefully they honor it.

I've had the Dinan tune for a couple hundred miles now and here are my observations. I also took the opportunity to get the Dinan underdrive pulley installed at the same time, so my observations may be a little different in comparison with just a straight tune without any other mods. Car was previously just stock 241E ECU software and an M Performance Exhaust.
--Cold start was deleted --Red line or fuel cut bumped up a bit, maybe 100-200 RPM --Smoother accelerator transition (tip-in) & modulation --Pulls more readily than stock to red line (especially 6k+ RPM's) --Smoother and more linear power build-up throughout rev range --Steady speed same gear freeway to full throttle pickup improved --Have not tested the delimited top speed I was advised prior to the tune that the red line would not be altered, but I do not believe that to be the case. I am not going to do any catless x-pipe setup so for me this was a great opportunity to get a good, mild, OEM+ style tune for a great price. |

I like all the things I'm reading in this thread
![]() I have my appt. tomorrow at BMW Seattle to have the engine software installed. I previously purchased the Dinan DCT tune which I really like and noticed immediately, hoping for the same with the engine tune. The price is too good to pass up... |

FYI I emailed Dinan and they said this does not update the firmware version of the ECU and is compatible with any software version. Mine is an 08 that I bought used so I have no idea the software version so I will probably upgrade to latest first then flash this if I decide to go the Dinan route.
