Sadly - I've never heard of any of half these sites. I usually check Autotrader.com all day long. Thanks for the insight. I'm going to get pretty active on my search for an E90 within the next month so I'll be checking all these sites hourly lol |

You mentioned once you were going to sell your E70, have you tried listing that? Talk about massive depreciation! Depressing at how much mine has tanked in value since I bought it |

No, my warranty and maintenance plan is still good for 6 more months. Don't get me depressed, that car is worth much less than my M3. But I need a SUV, so there's no way around this. Maybe a Toyota SUV depreciates the best. I'm probably going getting a F15 X5. Now those...wow, crazy depreciation, especially for 35i base models.

Your car without a sunroof is $44-46k here.
I'm noticing the sunroof cars are being offered up for $8-10k less than equivalent slicktop ZCPs in many markets. Could they really be that much of a value killer? |

This is an excellent 2nd post for a forum member. And you earned your first appreciate. I would say we all would love to have that car. It's a bit pricier than most can afford. I'll let other comment on care for the paint ...

haha thank you !! I'm currently looking at one with 46k miles priced at 42k cad has one claim on carproof of $6500 front center.. it's been fully repaired but there is still that stigma of buying a "damaged car" I guess. that's my main concern. But it is a limited edition only 150 made in north america

I'm sure they'd be happy to get rid of it soon so you should be able to talk them down even more. I used to own a Frozen Silver Edition car (that I'm still suffering seller's remorse from) which had a claim of $8,500 from a dent in the rear quarter panel. The issue with frozen painted cars is that it is much more labour intensive to paint them and ensure that the paint matches properly because you only get one shot at spraying the paint on and that's it. If there's dust that gets caught, either you're SOL or you gotta respray (and that costs money to the bodyshop). The other issue is that blending is extremely difficult so in my case, even though the rear quarter (and door) were dented, the entire side of the car needed to be resprayed so that the paint blended smoothly with the hood and bumpers. Each frozen painted panel may have slight variances in the amount of matting agents in the paint so 2 frozen cars may not exactly have the same levels of "matte-ness" to them depending on the matting agents that were used in the "clear coat" when the car was initially painted at the factory. In addition, there might be slight variance (even from the factory) with respect to how the frozen paints look because plastic painted panels (think bumper/side skirts) absorb and deflect light differently than metal painted panels. Even different curves and angles will deflect light differently. These variances from the factory may also be due to the fact that the plastic panels (from what I understand) are painted at a separate facility than the main body of the car. Other reasons why labour is high: 1) paint booth needs to be completely free of dust and fine particles prior to painting to ensure that no contaminants get in the paint. This isn't as big of a problem for shiny cars because you can just polish them out after the panels are painted. Frozen panels can't be polished under any circumstances. If there is a defect, it requires respraying. 2) following from point 1), when the paint is left to dry, my body shop didn't turn on the fan so as not to circulate and/or introduce additional contaminants into the paint while it dried/cured. so the car was left in the booth over the weekend to bake without the fan running (this also costs the body shop additional electricity consumption). 3) it requires a skilled painter who knows and has been trained on matte/frozen paints to respray a frozen car. So you have to be sure that they're a reputable dealer and have the necessary skills to do it. Do your due diligence on the body shop. In terms of paint care, I used Dr. Beasley's Matte Shampoo and Chemical Guys Matte Shampoo to wash the car and cleansed the paint using BMW's Matte Paint Cleaner and topped it off with BMW's special matte wax. The wax really made the paint pop and loved the look of the paint after it was applied. This post was significantly longer than I anticipated but hopefully it'll shed some light on others who may have been curious about the process of fixing frozen paint. |

No reds for me, frozen or otherwise.
The paint trends over the past few years have proven to be interesting, to say the least. Just a few years ago, someone who saw a matte paint job would have said, "I bet that'll look great after you get it buffed out", now its considered awesome as-is. I'm still on the fence about it (only cause my pants leg got caught on the barb wire). The vivid and shimmering colors offered now by BMW M are just jaw-droppers. Atlantis Blue and Sakhir Orange are two colors I could never have imagined on cars. The one color that I just can't understand is the battleship grey that Dodge and others are putting out now. It looks like bondo with a clear coat. |

I have not seen anything even remotely close to that much of a difference for sunroof vs CF. The $34.5k price you are commenting on is about average for that year/mileage regardless of roof. $44-46k is crazy high.
