sonoma looks like a lot of fun. my girlfriend's dad volunteers up there and got us some nascar tickets a few years back. i'm sure i'll be able to run sonoma soon.

BW is awesome, don't get me wrong. A great track to learn to drive a car and not have to many worries about going off into a wall (unlike MRLS, even worse Sonoma.) I still need to work on a sub 2 minute at 13CW, gotta get there soon.

I have a really nice sim at home with LS on it so when I got there, though I was I awe of the place and the amazing track surface, I just didn't find it as challenging as I had hoped. I think I just prefer the tighter more technical tracks.

yea, i opted for the oem oil plugs this time... lol

i was looking at the turner dry lube race studs, but they aren't on sale. i've heard great things about apex, so i'm going to have a look at those. i can't go too crazy because i'm buying that mfactory carbon driveshaft... i have to answer for every car part that shows up at the house.

dinan used to do a 15% off sale every october. company got sold and prices went up a little bit (already expensive) and they don't have the sale. i'm a little annoyed by that and i'm kinda staying away out of principle. all i really want from them is a swaybar, but i'll hold out for one that someone bought but didn't install or something.

Lol, yes OEM drain plugs only!!

And totally hear you on answering for parts. BE Bearings arrive next week and I've had a stream of boxes coming for other parts and tools recently, my view is that the 'maintenance' parts shouldn't count against me but I imagine she has another view.

yea, i don't know how much longer she is going to buy the, "its maintenance, i have to do this" line.
even the small parts [engine mounts/monoballs] she knows they look cool and are heavy- they were expensive. she ain't stupid.

apex studs are $99. not too bad. the studs i was looking at from turner were $220 (with two extras). but those were their wazoo dry lube studs, so i'm not sure how they compare. i've had my turner studs (regular studs) for just about two years and about a dozen track days, so i figure its about that time.

basically, if its car parts and i'm excited about it, she doesn't care if its maintenance- i need to stopit.

Black Friday Buttonwillow with SpeedSF today. Finally got a damn PB. Funny my previous best lap was at the same event last year. Damn, one year of frustration finally over with!

1:58.9 with time left on the table because of a damn Miata in the esses. He should have hauled out of the esses and hug the left side. But I'll take a 58.9 over a 59.1

It's still possible to hit the walls at Buttonwillow, and got to experience it once personally myself, though i wasn't driving, I wouldn't recommend it. It taught me to really respect the esses, and the wall right outside of sunset (along the grid lane). If there was a place to not push hard, it would be there (esses).

I completely disagree. You absolutely have to push in both areas. The key is to respect both and not try and be a hero if you mess it up, e.g. if you go 2 off on either track out don't try and save it, just straighten the wheel and stay off track.

Gonna compare splits to see where to improve. Awesome.

Has it been spec'd to run at the speeds we hit at ACS? That's what I'd be worried about. I think someone was running the Fall Line motorsports one and was having issues at even highway speeds. I think he had a defective one but it's scared me off a little bit ATM.
