group buy for M PERFORMANCE STEERING WHEEL II (without Display)~~
and mastek, if you could add the blue and yellow center mark on each performance wheel without display, that would be easier for some people to see~ |

I would rather edit in links of pics instead of actual pics in the original post -- as it makes the post look messy and large.
Maybe we can post pics of the Wheels in seperate posts?? But lets see the links too |

Ordered
[Hey guys - first of all, thank you very much (especially mastek) for this thread. New member here but I've been following along for a while. Joined today to post this.]
Anyway - My wife and I happen to be in Germany, so I figured I could inquire about this. I walked into a smallish BMW dealer today in northern Germany (Elmshorn), pulled out the iPad, and showed the parts manager this thread. I had him search a few of the parts numbers. Results essentially mirror Golffrr's (very thorough) updates in red. I requested the Performance II "linkrad" (steering wheel) and read him the part number for DCT (...212 773). The system shows 2 in Munich. I'll take one, I said (I'll be down there in 2 wk). So he calls them, and says nope - both are spoken for. But he can order one, and it will arrive in 2 weeks. Do you mean early July, I ask. No, he says, come back on 6/22 (2 wk from 6/8 order). So I placed an order with deposit (he said 20% to cover their return fee, if I bail). We'll see how this turns out |

Awesome! yea BMW parts dept data base show us how many units are available in states, it also shows where they are and how many are available in germany which takes 10 days to get to us.(not all parts are available to US from Germany ) If it doesn't show in the system it will sometime tell us when its comes out or it will simple just say not available.
I have found that people on the forum usually find out more info about parts and release dates before we do lol.

Just so I've got this right, the white stitched no display wheel is MORE? than the same thing with M tri stitching? That's seems odd, no?

Wheel is in...
Hey guys - quick update - got a call this morning from the parts manager. My wheel has arrived! He says he asked BMW to rush it for his "American customer who is returning to the USA soon". I'm cautiously optimistic... As it's Saturday morning here, I'll pick it up in a couple of days & hopefully post then. (Monday is a holiday in Germany.)

The second generation PSW I (whatever it will be called) isn't listed in the original post. Despite the fact that this wheel as apparently been spotted in the wild, there seems to be a bit of uncertainty as to whether this wheel will ever become available. |

Does anybody know if the MII sport steering wheel has a flat bottom. I dont want the electronics in the wheel and i like the matching color M stitching. I would like it to have a flat bottom. I assume it also has the alacantra grips on the sides of the wheel.

That's what I like to hear, cheaper AND better! The first performance wheel is widely available for about $550, so the new wheel will be a great deal. You can hardly even rewrap a stock core in Alcantara for that much. Damn, this car is just a mod money pit!

Any word on a M3 specific digital pws? If I remember right, in the video interview with BMW M rep (can't remember who) they were saying an M3 specific digital PSW was coming with tri-color stitching.

M-Perf II wheel in hand
Guys - To close the loop on my previous posts, I can confirm that the M PERFORMANCE STEERING WHEEL II (without Display) is available now (in Germany at least... 2 weeks or so before the anticipated July 4 date).
I ordered mine on 6.9.11 and it arrived 6.11.11. I picked it up from the dealer in Elmshorn today, after the 3-day weekend here. As posted elsewhere, the wheel is alcantara, flat-bottomed, tri-color stitched, and carries a blue leather stripe at 12 o'clock. It is dark graphite to black, darker than my e46 ZHP alcantara wheel, and much darker than the previous generation non-display alcantara wheel with the yellow stripe/white stitching (which the dealer had installed on a SG e90 w/ lots of AC Schnitzer parts... but that's another story). For reference, mine is for DCT (32 30 2 212 773), or in German "Lenkrad M-Performance mit Aussparungen fur Schaltpaddels" ... loosely translated as "steering wheel M-performance with space for shift paddles". The wheel is stamped with a manufacture date of 4.27.11 Can't wait to get this thing installed when we fly back to Cali. |
