M-Button Overuse
I own an X5M and use the M-button about 75% of all drives. I was wondering if there's a such thing as overusing the M button. I never redline the car and rarely exceed 4k rpm, but in M Mode the car just feels and works so much better that if I'm not on it I feel bummed so I just press it. Lol.

using the M-mode and not redlining is like going to the best argentinian churrasqueria and just eating a salad.

Sometimes I think people are so bored in the 21st Century that they'll just ask the world any question that pops into their heads......including those they must already know the answer to.
I vote for having to pass a test before gaining access to the internet.

M-Button is simply a saved setting on the car for suspension, traction control and throttle response, how can you possibly over use the features given to you on the car?

If I could find a way to have the M button already engaged each time I start the car, I would use it. I don't think I ever drive it without the M mode on.

I dont think its such a silly question. Why did BMW putting freakin M button in there anyways? Why not just have it running optimally from the go? It's not so bad in the SUVs because it doesn't change that much but when I owned an M6 if I didn't presss the M button it was a complete dog. The point is its a performance vehicle why default to all these hobbled settings?

Gas mileage doesn't change much, its a performance car so defaulting to lame settings is annoying, and throttle sensitivity doesn't change much. Like I said it's not that big of a deal of the SUVs because there's not much of a difference but on M6/M5s its just stupid.

I own an X5M and am constantly in M mode... I don't think it hurts the car which I'm guessing is your question. Maybe the fuel economy gets suckier but that's about it...
