Guys with KW clubsports...come in

Hey guys,

Interested in making the switch, my cars on the lowest setting on kw v3s right now and im not happy.

Just curious, if you go low on the clubsports, is there enough dampening?
I dont mean wheels tucking, just maybe .5/.75 inchs over wheels.

Yes you can slam it - the problem is the car handles like complete shit when you are "tooooo" low as there is no travel left

If you check out KW's web site or http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...64&postcount=5, lowering level between V3 and CS are identical.

if they DO go lower .... there is a point where u go too low and compromise the suspension's geometry and your car will actually handle worse.

There has to be a certain amount of vertical wheel travel ..... and a specific suspension geometry.
All depends on how much research, math and time was spent on KW's crazy 7-post hydraulic dyno with 'this' car.

Clubsports do go lower. At their lowest setting the suspension geometry is compromised, the roll center and COG get all messed up, and handling goes down the drain. Even lower than the lowest setting (which is possible) and you'll have a great stance, but you'll be driving on the bumpstops, the ride will be very harsh, and the handling will be negatively affected even further.

I wouldn't recommend going lower than the V3's lowest setting, actually I wouldn't even recommend going to the V3's lowest setting. If it's only for looks then so be it, but your car's handling will be severly compromised as well as the fact that more often than not you will be hitting the bump stops.

Also, if you are only looking for lowered ride height, than the clubsports might not be the way to go. They include camber plates (spherical bearings) which will increase some NVH. If you are looking to go lower and don't have ride quality as the first priority, we sell a KW conversion kit (sold to increase handling performance) that would serve the purpose of allowing your car to go lower. You can pick your spring rates and still run your rubber front strut mounts plus it would be cheaper than scraping your v3's for CS. Also, the clubsports spring rates are higher and linear so that would also increase NVH.

what are the spring rates for the v3s and clubsports?

I notice my M's rear end likes to get bouncy when im taking agressive turns, is this because of no dampening? Basically hitting the bump stops?

Tyler, what is NVH?

Good thread! I'm also looking for feedback from the two. OP why are you unhappy with your V3's?

How much drop can you expect with the Clubsports? OP, how low are you trying to go? Is it reasonable to expect the CS to eliminate wheel gap with 20" wheels and still have good ride quality for daily use?

It's approved by TÜV to go 0.4-1.5" front, 0.2-1.4" rear. In reality it goes slightly lower than that.

Here is a pic with CS... and this is about half way down... at the present height the car handles like a dream and still has enough comfort for a daily driver... stop worrying about spring rates you won´t notice much difference from the regular V3... just the added benefit of camber adjustment on the front.

Only half? Damn.. to get that with regular V3's you'd have to dump the rear and go about 3/4's down for the front..

Looks super good though bro.. Clean

Yes you can dump the car on CS but as others already posted you won´t get a good handling.

How my car sits now is on the limit of spec any lower and I would mess up the set-up.

For me besides the ground clearance which would cause some people more or less of a headache the car is perfectly daily drivable.

As for NVH I really don´t think it is an issue unless your pretty anal, besides any Porsche does more stock then mine with CS... so all in all I can only recommend this set-up without hesitation.

Do we still have to worry about riding the bumpstops even with coilovers?

No... at least not with the CS... unless your drop way out of recommended spec.
