My preference at the moment is to go for a colour like Jerez Black, which will blend better with the roof. However some of you may realise that the CSL was made in two colours, Silver Grey and Saphire Black, and when I first saw a Saphire Black CSL it looked like the roof was 'unfinished' (i.e. not a very complimentary effect), so I am in two minds about whether to expose the CF roof by contrasting body paint or not. |

Speaking on my experiences with the E46 M3 Cab / E63 M6. I never thought that I could live without a Cab again but as soon as I drove the M6, I didn't care.
The carbon roof is cool to look at and on the interior, there is lots of headroom and the faux-suede lining is really nice.... But that being said, I would trade that in for a standard all-glass moonroof from the regular 6 series anyday.....

CF rocks
Contrary to what many others think, I can't get enough of the CF looks. To me it makes the car look very sporty and advanced, it also makes the car look lowered.
Also, think of the color combinations! It would look almost exactly the same with grey except with a textured finish. With black it would make the car look more sporty than classic, and with alpine white, why: |

Compared to a model that BMW only produced 1200 worldwide (and just over 400 in the UK). If BMW make as many E92 M3s as the E46 M3 (which hopefully they will not), that leaves the possibility of 30-40,000 cars being on the roads with what was once a rare feature. So yes, commonplace.

Most of the weight savings is by NOT having a sunroof (which adds about 40 lbs to a metal roof due to the glass, the motors, and the tracks). So 40 + 12 = 52 lbs saved by going CF!
Forged wheels (-5 to -10 lbs per corner) and the CF roof were the biggest weight savers and the reason it got in under 3500 lbs.

"Forged" describes how the wheel was produced.
More information on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forge In short; forged wheels are strong, this makes it possible to use less material which gives you a lighter wheel. The drawback is pricing. |
