Great great cars. But not as every day drivers. I always had an M3 or Cayenne as the daily. One time I had an RS and a CSL for daily.

I have sold the sports cars due to kids and well, growing up a little, and the DCT is the closest driving impression thrill/ enjoyment I have experienced to these sports cars.
Do yourself a favour and test drive one, as for the money there is no better car.

You will spend more money on a GT3, and trust me the novelty wears off in three months, then it's not worth the extra money!!

Save cash get a DCT and do the mods you know are right, like coilovers, akra exhaust and an ESS supercharger
You must be crazy, getting old or not driven the 997.2 GT3 (don't take it personal). Please tell me what other near 3000 lbs car, which puts down 405 whp SAE corrected on a dynojet naturally aspirated (completely stock), 1/4 mile in 11.8 and 0-200 KM in 12.2, has a true dry sump motor, and is as precise (driving feel) as a 997.2 GT3, for the money?

It is also much more comfortable in the street that the 997.1 GT3, due to better suspension components ( some from the 997 GT2 also) and the dynamic engine mounts.

Seriously, go test drive one. There is a huge difference between the 997.1 and 997.2 GT3. You'll understand then.

BTW, I sold my 2008 M3 DCT which had the RD Sport 4.6 stroker, dymags, and other stuff to buy my 2010 GT3 and could not be happier. I wouldn't have done it for a 997.1 GT3 though.

I have read officially the GT3 997.2 911 is FASTER in a drag race than the 997.1 911 Turbo from 0 - 200 KM/H. That is astonishing.

Thanks for the feedback. I'd love to take a DCT for a spin. I'll keep my eye out..

i have no idea why ppl would even consider the 09-10 GTR. i think they are not really all that great looking even in person if your spending $80-90k. plus its a nissan, i rather have the oldschool GTR's. get the GT3. GTR is a waste of money and i dont care if its fast its still looks liek a whale.

<sigh>
Have you actually driven one? Or is superficial stuff what you like best?
The GTR is a great car.

R34 GT-R used to be my dream car. In some ways, more so than the Supra MK4. The sweetes inline 6 engines of their days. Especially the fact that it was an actual race car homologation from JGTC. I loved the R32 and R34 V Spec and their ability to rev up to 10,000 rpm all day long.

GT3 997 is exactly that of today. A pure street legal race car. A true Le Mans race car to fulfill the homologation requirements. It is the spirit that GT-R used to represent.

I could not give two s**s (personally) about the R35 since it is a poseur video gamey mobile that is built for company image and nothing more. Not to mention, the engine sounds horrible like a vaccum cleaner. The whole Nurburgring gong show Nissan did for publicity was laughible that no one in the world could ever replicate going to the extent of calling the one and only Walter Rohrl a "liar" and incompetent for not being able to get more out of the GT-R than 10 slower than the factory claims. I could only laugh and chuckle at how miserable Nissan had become.

Heck even the GT2 GT-R race car has nothing in common with the road going version (a RWD V8 5.6 Liter engine putting out 600+ HP@8000+ rpm).

Again, this is my own conclusion based on what I know. No one has to agree with me (especially GT-R loyalists).

+1 always wanted an R34 and MK4 never could find one in the condition/price i was looking for though...definitely take an R34 over the R35, drivers car compared to a video game

If M3 feels too normal.

Better performance: GTR, GT3 RS

Better design: Maserati Granturismo, Aston V8 Vantage

Better both: Gallardo, Scud, R8.

No one said the M3 is better than a GT3. Its the other way around BUT>>>>>>>>

The GT3 is more expensive gents, and I don't believe the money spent is worth the additional car, especially when you take what I say below and ^^^^ into account

Its NOT AN EVERYDAY DRIVER!!!!
The M3 IS
If you buy a Porsche GT3, you HAVE TO HAVE another car to drive everyday, as its dumb to use a GT3 everyday and put mileage on it will de-value like hell if you drive 15k mile a year. An M3 on the other hand does so at a lessor value. The GT3 is too uncomfortable to go to the shops to do grocery shopping in with that dumb ass bonnet boot you can fit three packets of milk in. Plus when you park it outside the shopping centre, you get some fat ass house wife opening her Voyagers doors on your car, or crashing her trolley into it.

If you all you will note that I have owned 7 Porsche, all of them GT3 and GT2s over the last 10 years. I have never owned one without owning an M3 or Cayenne or X5 as a daily car. Fuckit if you want buy a Golf GTi to drive everyday so you don't fuck up the weekend sports car.

Now USE YOUR HEADS, and listen...

GT3/RS best car ever....BUT not for everyday. Save the expense of havinig to buy another car.
M3, best car ever for the money plus cheaper plus good for everyday yay hoo fuckin ray!!!! And you dont need another car.

Anyone else want to debate with me on this???

I am quite sure every guy here who sells the M3 for a GT3 and drops a bag full of additional cash will come back 6-8 months later and agree with what I have said

The difference between the GTR of old and the R35 is that they were designed to be taken racing and the R35 wasn't, but that said, if you exclude this point the new car is superior in so many ways. After all these cars were bought primarily to be driven on the road and it's here that the R35 scores over it's predecessors.

I agree with most of your statement, but nobody here is debating if the 997.2 GT3 can be used as a grocery go getter. The OP has a 2005 Mini he can use for those type of things and his M3 already sold. No one should get a GT3 if its their absolute only car. I have 3 other cars, yet enjoy driving the
GT3 at least 4 time a week and track it once a month. It is obviously a car meant to me driven, not to do errands with. I've put 3400 miles on it in 3 months and its probably the best 3400 miles I've spent in ANY car...

Also, the 997.2 GT3 is worth every penny. You cannot find another car, that's does what it does, provide power the way it does and give that driving experience for the money. None.

Here's another option to throw into the mix... Used M3 DCT around the 50K mark + ESS Stage 1.....

.2 GT3... I'm a little biased.

The .2 looks better, has more torque, better sorted PASM, PADM and more over the .1, imo.
