My "pay as you go" through T Mobile Nokia 2330 paired easy, displays contact info & works with voice commands. It's not listed as being compatably on the US or UK BMW site either.

MY 2010 M3 Coupe w/ iPhone 3Gs: pairs, transfers contacts (at least once, just got it yesterday), and "Phonebook" voice command works fine (called my wife on the way home from picking up the car).

BBerry 9700 Bold 2 and iPhone 3G (not S) both work (dl's the address book) with the iDrive on my 2010. Haven't tried the voice command.

Just an update: updated contacts in phone get uploaded fine and the snap-in cradle (p/n 84 21 2 158 683 with 6NF) works for both iPod functions and charging.

Do you have to have smartphone integration to have this feature? I'm not sure if my 2009 has smartphone integration but my blackberry bold 9000 on bluetooth never transfers contacts to the car...

If your phone is paired with the car via Bluetooth, which requires 639 BMW Assist as I recall, then you will have full phone operation whether you have 6NF Smartphone Integration or not. If your phone is not transferring contacts it might be that you are storing your contacts in the phone's SIM card. Contacts stored there are not visible to the car, they are not transferred. This is a known limitation for the Bold and I think many other phones (but not all, my old RAZR would produce duplicate car entries if the contact was in the SIM and the phone's own memory).

thanks for the info. i've plugged in an iphone 3gs to the ipod/usb cable before and it definitely charged/was able to use it as an ipod, i guess i have the smartphone option.
strange, my contacts on the blackberry bold are not stored on the SIM but rather on the phone itself, so you would think that it should be able to populate the iDrive with a list of contacts, or at least be able to list the name associated with a particular number on incoming calls. if i'm mistaken let me know, but i'll dig around my manual or (sigh) visit the dealer

Regardless of whether you have 6NF or not the phone's exchange of contacts is done by Bluetooth, entirely independent of any cable connection. SInce your contacts are not in the SIM they should be transferred. Either there is an issue with the car or perhaps your phone. With the contacts properly transferred you would be able to make voice commanded calls (with Nav) and see contact information displayed for incoming calls.
