Camaros kit replacment ?
i saw this the other day on the best buy website http://www.bestbuy.com/site/PAC+-+Lo...9046098&st=pac TR-4&cp=1&lp=1
i think this can be used to trigger a relay that powers an HID kit so the oem wire feeds this low voltage trigger which in turn activates a relay which turns on the HID Kit this way you get the same functionality as the camaross kit but for a total cost of $20 (2 low voltage triggers) and the HID kit (around $75) just make sure you get a kit that comes with the relay, so you don't use the OEM angel eye wire to power the HID. The wire is not thick enough and might cause problems the low voltage trigger activates at 0.8 volts so it will turn on and remain on irrespective of if the Angel eyes were being dimmer by the car or not i.e full brightness all the time |

sorry, let me rephrase it.
In the stock system, when your headlights are off the angel eyes get about 10.75 volts but when you turn your headlights on, the voltage to the angel eyes is lowered to 3.3 volts. if you hook up a regular HID kit for the angel eyes, when the headlights are off, the HID kit gets enough voltage to turn it on and everything is fine. but when you turn your headlights on, the voltage goes to 3.3 volts, which is not enough to turn on an HID kit. Even if you use a relay, most relays need at least 7-9 volts to activate. this is why people paid over $200 for the camaross kit. with this PAC low voltage trigger, it needs 0.8 volts only to activate so it would turn on with 10.75 volts (headlights off) or 3.3v (headlights on) so the OEM wire would go to this PAC low voltage trigger and from there it turns on a relay which connects the power wire to the HID kit. |

you can actually use this with non HID bulbs
like the camaross elite kit which basically means you give your angel eyes the full voltage not the lowered OEM voltage so even your regular OEM bulbs would look brighter/whiter and GP thunder would look brighter/whiter as well all you need are these low voltage triggers and 2 relays |

So, let me see if I get it right. Positive and ground in the engine bay then from there to the triggers then from there to OEM wiring and to GP h8. Is this what you are suggesting?

only connecting the positive to the bulb when the OEM wire gives it power i.e it will function exactly the same as the OEM bulb, but brighter. day time running, parking light etc will all function as stock but brighter you'd still need a resistor connected to the OEM wire so the car doesn't sense that the bulb is no longer connected to it this is what i did but i hand't tried the low voltage triggers so my angel eyes turn on and off with the AUX wire in the engine bay. which is not the same as the OEM wire i used to have the Angel eyes turn on as soon as i unlocked my car now they only turn on when the key is in the ignition i will install the low voltage triggers in my setup, once i am done with the stereo upgrade installing SWS-8s and an amplified subwoofer in a tiny enclosure to the back of the ski hatch, so it fires into the car. |

Thanks!! Any resistors you'd recommend? Been experimenting with AEs.

Someone please put a plug n' play kit together and market this thing at a cheaper price than other kit out there. Oh ya, make it better than the other ones too.
Thanks

i want to do the same thing just too busy doing a stereo upgrade now the reason i said use 2 is if you ever use your parking light you need to be able to individually turn on and off each light if you don't then 1 is all you need |

i'm also going to order another one of these to connect to the remote wire of the head unit
so i can activate the amps, subs etc with direct power, not overload the remote wire of the HU i think this would also work for, whats is it, the logic 7 system? that only puts out 5v on the remote wire? 5v would switch this on and provide a full 12v output to fee the amps up to 2amps so you can power a lot of amps with this |

Just tried it man, the Pac Audio TR-4 Adapter still doesn't give out enough juice to turn on the relay, it only puts out about 1.5-2amps when I tested it, so the TR-4 will not work, I just paid 20bucks for one adapter since Best Buy only ships it and the retailer who sold it priced it high I guess. I'll try running a small capictor on the wire see if it can pump up the AMPs.

Okay, I just tried the capictor idea, no go, the capictor keeps a small charge so that small charge keeps the Pac Audio adapter active which in turn keeps the lights on. SUCKS!!!

did you hook up the relay properly because 1-2A is more than enough to energize the coil inside the relay. I think it should be set up like this correct me if Im wrong Kmarei.

all the relays i have seen need between 90-200ma to trigger so 1.5 amps is more than enough to trigger a relay did you wire it like the diagram above? |
