Driving School
Guys, which driving schools would you recommend to a beginner/intermediate level driver? FYI, I was thinking of lessons in an open wheel car to improve overall technical skills etc... but I am not aiming at competition (just yet).

You might want to consider doing it at a track you are familiar with so that learning the track does not take away from learning the advanced skills. I am considering doing Skip Barber at Lime Rock next year myself.

Ca va? I did the Bertil Roos school down at VIR this past summer and it was a wealth of knowledge I gained. I did the 5 day school and race. Once you complete the course, you can get your SCCA license.
Further to Lucid's advise, Bertil Roos is now doing the school and race packages out of NJMP. And I know you just had a blast there. So learning your "local" track with Bertil Roos would be a bonus. The owner Dennis is a really nice guy and I personally know one of their instructors. They are all good guys. And it is a great learning experience.

BMWCCA might be a good start.

Skippy and Russell both do a great job with their open wheel schools. I would recommend doing open wheel since you will learn at a more extreme level and you will feel both mistakes and proper technique more acutely that driving street cars. If you don't have the time or $$$ for those multi-day schools, track time at a good school like these regardless of car type will benefit you, especially if you are just getting in to it.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."
