1200 miles svc tomorrow - what can I expect after?
I finally have an appointment for 1200 miles breakin service tomorrow.
I have 1175 miles as we speak. I'm getting very excited. I feel like I dated a girl for proper dating for long enough time and now it's time to take her to bed and get wild. I searched enough to learn: Engine oil, 6 speed transmission fluid, Limited Slip fluid change must be done. After 1200 miles, I know there are another soft 2nd breakin till 3k miles but do you guys rev up to 6-7k and drives more aggressively (how it meant to be) or still pampering it till 3k miles? Let me know guys.

that's the problem dude! you take the girl to bed FIRST, THEN you see if you want to date her or not.
what you should expect is a car that doesnt feel heavy ALL the time, and you will learn that humans are a bit addicted to sound generated by revving past 5k RPM. drive the biotch like you stole it meng |

I'm from East coast so I guess that's what I was missing in the dating scene in CA. I'll try that this weekend while I drive my car like I stole it.

My car is in the shop now getting the 1,200 mile service done but I don't know what one of it is on the sheet they gave me. I am guessing it is changing filters though
Op Code 0000602 : "Replace Intake Silencermaint CBS INFO" I'm just curious on the Silencermaint part

I plan on going easy on the car until the 3,000-3,500 mile mark. Then I'll push it extremely hard for some time. And then I'll finally start modding at about the 4,000-5,000 mile mark. Hopefully I don't break my own rules!

It's the air filter buddy, but the weird thing in the service called for 'microfilter' change, which are the A/C filters, but they're not supposed to do that anymore. I know for a fact my air filter wasn't replaced since it's somewhat dirty for only 200 miles after the service. I noticed it wasn't replaced during my intake removal, but it's really not necessary IMO after only 1,200 miles, so no biggie. And neither the A/C filters IMO, but those were replaced in my car (I checked).
BMW has a very weird way to name many things, including the universally used acronym TSB (technical service bulletin); they always like to be unique, and that's not good IMO. They finally caved in with their motorcycles by putting the damn turn-signal switch like everybody else (except HD, to be fair, but HD has 2 switches, not 3). Now I have to get used to new weird names for everything on the M3 . Oh well. Take care. |

mine's in the shop for 1200 mile service right now; cannot wait to let it out afterwards (although here in boston we've had the most miserable weather -- 30 days straight of rain and t-storms right now).

Car is in the shop and picking up tomorrow.
First thing I'm going to do is revving up to 7.5k.

Cunningham.
Cunnmingham is really far from my place but my friend just had the worst experience at the BMW of San Diego- they treated him like a liar and voided his engine and tranny warranty because they said he has a ECU reflash although HE NEVER HAD ONE, he only has dual cone intakes. And BMW Encinitas, I never had a good experience while I was shopping for cars so I didn't go there. Also when I check for a few installation price, San Diego and Encinitas were totally ripping me off but Cunningham really charges right amount.

Why do you want this thread closed?
I agree with your views on San Diego dealers. Nick is the guy to go to at Cunningham, now South Coast BMW. He did my break-in service at 900mi. Have you taken her up to 8400K yet? Allen
