Status of Deliveries????
Hey, Guys, how about an update on the status of your rides delivery to Colorado? I know some of you are getting close!
Me, I'm in transit and I think it left on 2/10-11. Not sure what ship. Need to call my CA. So where are you guys at???? How about a sound off of when you left Bremerhaven and your ETA from your CA.

UPDATE:
Confirmed. My M did leave on the Tombarra on 2/10. ETA into Port Hueneme is 3/8. Conservatively, through prep center and to dealer in 10-14 days. That puts her in my eagerly awaiting hands somewhere between 3/18-22!!!

Placed my order on 2/2 but don't have a production date until 3/13. I was told the production date would definitely move up after a few days in the BMW system since they had a sold car but no movement for the past 2+ weeks. Still the same build date. Depressing!
You'd figure they'd want to build a car that's sold as soon as possible but what do I know! Well, at least you guys are getting your cars soon so I can live vicariously though you!

Great news! Glad yours finally arrived. Mine was supposed to be built last week but has now been delayed until 4/14. Still don't understand BMW since they are not building a sold car but are producing tons of unsold one's!

I was researching places for clearbra and window tint and liked IDS's rep, but real expensive. Was going to go to Rags in Boulder at the recommendation of Jamesq. Talked to my CA yesterday and he asked about it. Told him what I had been looking into, price at IDS, etc. He called IDS and set up good deal for me, clearbra to my spec. Got: Clearbra; 24" hood, full front bumper, headlights, fenders to flare, and mirrors; and full window tint for $1,200. When I had called IDS directly, it was more expensive. Interestingly, IDS said to go direct, it would be cheaper than going through dealer. Schomp proved them wrong. Others here also said not to go through dealer, re: quality control. But they are doing it to my spec, not 12" hood, and I'm still picking up the car tomorrow. All done, no worries, and cheaper. Works for me...

Congrats Chris. I better keep putting miles on mine or you'll catch up. Picked up my cleaning supplies tonight for her first official bath tomorrow.

How did the bath go? What supplies did you go with? I went for a ride up 285 today. Before I even realized it, I was in Park County! She's already pretty dusty so I need to figure a plan on cleaning - no driveway, old house close to downtown (Wash Park), so garage is off alley.

Wasn't directed at me but I might be able to offer some help. I was in sort of the same position, except I lived in Lodo and had no driveway or hose at all. I posted my coin-op wash routine for another forum member here:
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...6&postcount=11 I still do it when its really cold out. As for products, loads of options, but my favorites are 1 or 2 (depending on the room you have) buckets and sheepskin or microfiber mitts, a good shampoo (Einszett Glanz is my fave), and a pile of MF towels. I like Menzerna products for paint car (polishing), P21S wax, P21S gel wheel cleaner... I find that either the dust on the roads is worse this year or the E90 shape attracts more than my E46 did. Really a PITA... I am about to try a popular product called Optimum No Rinse (ONR) that is essentially a waterless car wash. It can be diluted to various strengths for different uses (wash, quick detailer, clay lube) - I would only use it on moderately dusty surfaces between washes, but worth a shot. |

Thanks Signes -
I should have known that there would be a thread on even this too! I appreciate the shopping list as well. Only because I know at some point I'm going to break down and do it, because I travel a lot and at times just don't have time for a hand wash, is there a particular place you trust as a full-service car wash? Do you have a favorite detailer or do you always do it yourself? Looking forward to the Spring rides.

I gave it the clay bar treatment(Mothers) and was surprised to find some black rail dust on the clay. Bought some new microfiber wash mits and used the two bucket wash treatment. I also used the isopropyl alcohol/water mix to remove the dealer wax and put my own 3M wax on. I usually use Maguiars(we make the cans for them) Gold Class. Used BMW leather treatment on the inside. I guess I'm going to have to get it out in the rain over the next couple days.
