It does not surprise me to read this. I have read and seen it happen on other boards where the board became so popular that the owners and admins let it all go to their heads.

Some time these board are so popular the money rolls in faster then they could believe with ad placements and sponsorships, they do not know how to handle it. Some times when the Owner has the good sense the admins revolt and try to start a new board to compete or the owner sells out to some larger company looking to get the ad money and so on.

Face it, it take lots of time and money to make these thing run and at some point the people get burned out since there is no return or if there is a return the spend so much time try to figure out how to get more and then the overall quality suffers.

It will not be the first it happen to and will not be the last. I been through a number of them myself, most end up imploding on themselves.
