Still interested in that Altima Coupe?

Perhaps we got a broken, tired or used-up Altima. Perhaps the contest should've been conducted with automatic transmissions. Perhaps this is an irrelevant contest. Anyway you look at it, however, the 2008 Honda Accord Coupe felt like it was engineered, designed and built to an entirely different, higher and better standard.

No contest. The Accord coupe is the one that's left, and the one that's right.

The RX8 is a good car and can be made to look really good. Its widebody stance looks awesome and it does handle extremely well. The suspension is right combo of firmness yet you don't feel the pot holes. The engine sounds nice and its got a nice slick shifting 6 speed manual. The half doors make it difficult to get in and out of the back seats, but once you are in they are a good size imo and fairly comfortable.

Here is the original Mazdaspeed kit for the RX-8:

I own a rotary and i can tell you there really isn't much extra you need to do with it. Check oil and add when necessary, and thats about it.

But in the end im going to have to go with neither. The RX-8 gets bad gas mileage. Forget the Altima couple, Accord coupe, or whatever other half-a$$ attempts at making a sports car. FWD for the lose.

Altima = a secretary's car (FWD)
RX-8 = RWD, light, great handling, great brakes, but with no balls

I've driven an Altima. Yawn. Little more than a drone in a rental fleet.

I have also been foolish enough to buy an RX-8 new ('05) that turned out to be a bit of a lemon (lots of big things broke on it) and had an utterly underwhelming engine that had no power AND got terrible gas mileage. Sold it after 10 months, blech!

Neither car is remotely comparable to a 135i! I guess the RX8 and 128 would be in the same ballpark of each other (due only to the ~350pound lighter weight of the RX8) but the similarities are little more than a paper comparison.

BMW FTW! :w00t:

OK, time for the opinion from someone who's had the RX-8..the looks are subjective. I thought it was beautiful, but the gas is horrendous. I would average out 14-15 mpg and I basically drove on the highway. It's a nice car with great handling but it requires a lot of maintenance...

I actually traded in my RX-8 for a 2006 Altima SE-R and I haven't looked back once. I love my altima (even though it's not the one you want)....it's a decent looking car and it's practically maintenance free...and I get about 22 mpg....

This is deliciously absurd. I'm not sure whether it demonstrates sickness, brilliance, or both.
