Best M3...what do you think?

Highlights original E30 M3, E36 M3, E46 M3, E90 M3, F82 M4, along with M2, 1M and pick favorites before the styling added the “Beaver Teeth” front end 👀

Click bait - TLDR.

The "best M3" is the one you can afford.
Subjective styling preferences aside, every new generation is always better and more expensive then the one prior.

Not true at all, ‘best’ has nothing to do with affordability and each successive generation is not better than the previous, its all a matter of what you are measuring as well as the emotional aspects that are personal and immeasurable.
The only thing you can objectively say is that each successive model is faster than the previous generation.

I've not driven the E92 M3 with that epic 4-liter V-8 nor any 1M or M2. But of those that I have owned (E36 M3, E46 M3, F80 M3 and G80 M3) I would have to give the nod to the E46 M3. Good power and handling, comfortable. I kept mine so long that I missed out on the E92 generation. My favorite BMW of the eleven that I've purchased new.

Originally owned multiple gens of M3s [e36, e46, e92 (two)].
IMHO, luv'd each; nonetheless, e92 M3 remains the "cat's meow" for all its bespoke features, characteristics.

After owning multiple M cars I must admit that my current M2 is my favorite even over my E46 M3.

I would go with E36 M3, E46 M3 or E9xM3. Hard to choose among those.
