Hi All,
I'm new to the brand and to this forum.
I purchased a 2021 M440i convertible in November of '25 with 33.5K miles. I'm still learning how to access / use features. This is a great driving car that gets surprisingly good mileage FYI, I drive in Sport Individual mode configured so it's essentially Comfort mode without the engine shut off at stop lights.
I tend to drive gently but let the horns come out on occasion and this thing is FUN! One thing that concerns me is how the manufacturer uses plastic in areas that could lead to catastrophic failures (according to numerous youtube videos I've watched). Also, I'm ignoring the ridiculous oil change intervals and lifetime fluids (really?). Instead of their owners manual wasting space telling us the reasoning behind what they state next, I'd appreciate some of the many preventative maintenance issues and DIY "quick fixes" that I've come across. For the company, it's all about the Benjamins but for us owners it seems reasonable. Premium vehicles will not surprisingly have premium repair costs but these guys are just being pigs.
For you experienced BMW owners, how do you keep your cars running longer term (i.e. up to 100K miles)? Thanks for any recommendations.

As to your question re maintenance intervals, you'll get answers that vary widely. My cars do not get a lot of annual miles and so I'm fine with annual service visits. If you pack on lots of miles every year, YMMV. On the other hand, "lifetime" fluids are BS. If you keep the car for a long time or amass a ton of miles per year, you will have to face that issue sooner or later. Transmissions and differentials need fluid changes, but not frequently. Your best bet is to search the forums for "ZF transmission service" or the like. Enjoy!
